| Avoiding the $200 early disconnect fee?
I think I already know the answer, but I thought I'd double check. My girlfriend signed up for the SBC $24.95 a month plan back in May. It carries a 12 month term, with a $200 early termination fee. She has since moved in with me (already an SBC DSL customer) and is selling the house. She called to see about getting the phone and DSL turned off, and they wanted the $200 early termination fee.
So my question is on options. We talked about dropping her to the $14.95 a month plan, and just paying for 12 months, because that still works out to less than $200. The other option would be to transfer her phone and DSL to a second line at my place, though we really don't need it here.
Any suggestions? The ideal solution would be to just shut her line off completely without extra cost. We have no objection to sending the modem back, though the rep she talked to suggested that would make no difference. -- AMD X2 4400+/ MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum SLI/ 2x 512Mb Kingston HyperX PC4000/ WD 74Gb Raptor/ PNY 7800GTs SLI/ Antec 550 True Control/Custom water cooler |

| reply to Camelot One If you rerate your dsl, you will basically be agreeing to another 1 year term. Any time you make a speed change or rerate to lower price, you will have to renew for 1 year, unless you are already in a month to month scenario.
We cant accept equipment after 30 days, so returning the equipment is not an option.
How long do you have on your term?
The best way to discuss this is to call in and talk to a rep, and be nice to them...remember you will attract more flies with honey then with vinegar. |

maybe i'am wrong or maybe I'am thinking of R,R, calling swbell customer sales to fight out the right info,
asked,""i have had dsl with swbell-dsl since 1999, question IF i or someone want to cancel our contract can we without penalty,no.you would be pentalized
if someone with swbell has dsl service & moved in with me, will they be pentalized since we both will be useing my dsl only?? yes you would be penalized unless you keep the contract until it expires.make sure that within the last 30 days befor the contract is ue to end, that you send us a letter & advise you wish to cancel the contract. -- What we know is not much. What we don't know is enormous,If all my friends here were to jusp off a bridge,i would not jump with them,i would be at the bottom, with a pillow in my outstreched arms to catch them |

With SBC, you'll (almost) always get 'shafted', hehehe . |
