said by oddgeezer :Sunrocket is my VOIP provider. I, of course, use the "gizmo" that they provided. If I got a PAP2 and unlocked it, what could I do that I can't do now? | reply to rcilink I keep watching this thread gets longer and longer. I wondered how much of an impact this unlocking will do to Vonage . So far, I have four PAP2 units unlocked and run with free VoSPs, FWD, SIPGate, StanaPhone, VoIPBuster, and VoIPUser. I may have to make some glass shelves to put my PAP2s for some blue light shows ... |

| reply to rcilink I picked up my PAP2 yesterday and unlocked it last night. I'm planning on getting another one tonight to unlock.
Staples Easy Rebate was great too...just type it in online...no stamps or additional cost. This thing just costs me the $2 or $3 in tax.
One thing I haven't heard anyone mention yet is the lights on this thing are super bright. I have an apartment (temporarily) and all my networking gear is in the bedroom. The lights on the PAP2 are bright enough to light the bedroom pretty well at night. Been debating putting a piece of electrical tape over them so I can sleep at night -- Hilbe »www.sunrocketforum.com »www.nuvioforum.com |

| reply to mazilo Hi,Mazilo
glad to know you have gotten it works for many VoSPs. I just wonder if your pap2 is behind a router?
my home network is like cable model--> sipura2100 (192.168.0.1) -->belkin router (192.168.0.2 or 192.168.2.1) -->pap2 (192.168.2.4) and other two PC. so my pap2 is behind two routers.
I tried the config wizard from voxilla for fwd. with stun, outbound proxy. doesn't work. also I set port forwarding at sipura and belkin for port (5060-5082, 10000-20000, 53-69) to pap2
when I tried fwd netneck.exe for detecting my network setting, it tells me that 5060, 5082 are blocked (certainly, I changed the port forwading to the PC when I tried this).
some suggestions? thanks
also, when I just connect pap2 directly to cable modem. the power and network leds kept flashing, did not register. so strange.
I assume, if I use stun and outbound, I should not worry about firewall and port forwarding. right?

Your PAP2 is behind a double NAT/Firewall routers. My PAP2 units are behind a single uPnP NAT/Firewall Airlink101 AR410W WiFi router. You may have to change the DNS servers on your PAP2. Perhaps, the following will also help:
Login as admin, go to SIP menu (Advanced View), and make the necessary changes to the following:
1. Handle VIA received: yes 2. Handle VIA rport: yes 3. Insert VIA received: yes 4. Insert VIA rport: yes 5. Substitute VIA Addr: no
Hopefully, your PAP2 units will register now. |

Perhaps, I should consider buying shelves to house these PAP2 units and put the shelves in the living room for a show off, especially during the evening. |

Unless the RTP312 and PAP2 firmwares are identical, your bet isn't going to work. However, if you will find an equivalent Sipura unit of RTP312. Try the utility to mod its firmware. Then, see if your RTP312 to take the mod firmware. If so, then there is a chance to unlock it. |

| Hi John, I ran across this post this morning: »www.voipuser.org/forum_topic_1931.html
Check out 5th post from the top. Have not tried it myself but might be what you are looking for. Keep us posted if this helped.
said by jf:External : Follow these step to unlock the ADMIN portion of your Web Interface Linksys PAP2 Adapter.
First keep the PAP2 adapter from accessing the Internet by unplugging your the cable modem.
Now do in these steps:
Pick up your phone and dial:
**** Then dial 73738# Password is: (usually) 7756112# could be: 8995523# enter 1 to confirm press # Hang up
pick up the phone and dial **** then 7932# Password is: 78196365 Press 1 to Confirm and then hang up.
This just enabled the Web Interface if needed.
Now if you need the IP address of your PAP2 Dial **** Enter: 110# and put that number in your Web Browser You should gain access to the web server at this point.
Here is the fun stuff. Click Admin Login in the top right hand side.
I assume this is where many people have been stuck!
User name: admin Password: kImkGPHA

| reply to rcilink So, after going through all of the steps in page 1 can I then just configure it for any VOIP service ? or do I have to upgrade it to some firmware first ?. This last sentence by rcilink: "This test uses specific firmwares.. These are not for any other use, so if you are looking for upgrade firmware for your PAP2, DO NOT assume that this will be them.. These are for unlocking your PAP2 unit"
makes it sound like the firmware uploaded to PAP2 in step 14 is for unlocking only and not for general use.
In any case where can I download newer firmware versions?, I tried the linksys support page for PAP2 but the firmware link is grayed out. |
