This has nothing to do with meter reading. There is well established technology in the field that does this. Most, if not all co-ops have transitioned to AMR already. All they need to do is change out the meter on each premises and they are done on the consumer end.
Any utility that still uses meter readers are doing so to keep from having to fire people. We have had AMR in my area for nearly 3 yrs. Up the road they have had it longer. Some even have AMR water meters |
