[Info] DI-624 rev_C firmware version 2.71 beta

di624_firmware_271b7.bin was emailed to me by the D-Link support. I was told to use it with my Centrino laptop.

Has anyone heard of or had experianced anything with this new firmware?

Hello everybody

Just loaded v 2.71 on my DI-624c3.
Now my Acer Ferrari laptop with a Broadcom 802.11g wireless Network Adapter finally is able to receive an IP-address using DHCP from the router.
Just great!!
With 2.70 I never was able to get an IP-address, I had to use a static address.
I haven't had any major reboot problems before either and it has not rebooted since I loaded it 6 hours ago.

Its looks promising!!

Regards
Bengt

My setup:
Super G without Turbo (Ch 11)
WPA2-PSK

definitely looks promising. I don't have the reboots every 2 minutes like I did with 2.70.

Just flahsed mine to 2.71... DHCP works with my Broadcom laptop... Just waititng for the brother in law to bring his Intel Laptop and see how it performs. Will keep an eye out for reboots, filesharing stability, loss of connection and will post my findings over the next 24hours.

D-Link, why did you make us wait so long???

Please let us know. The main reason I removed 2.70 was file sharing and printing in the LAN.

I haven't noticed any difference.I still can't acquire an IP address with WPA2-AES, but with 2.70 i had the router configured to WPA2-Auto, and it was working fine.
Can anybody explain the difference between WPA2 and WPA2-Auto?

So far...so good. For the first time since I had my router I have not had a reboot problem. This just may be the fix I was hoping for

Almost the same here, If I run Limewire and 2 bittorrents, I can notice the speed slowdown on the internet... more then it should. Router monitor doesnt receive any info from the router once it has too many connections, but never a reboot. If I stop the downloads, Router Monitor is back to normal.

That's normal. [Router Monitor] became slow when
there are many connections (1700 Like me) it need
to process & display. The speed will be better if you
have a fast computer....!

Maybe this firmware is a totally new code by new team.
Look at the build number, this is 0007!
before the build number is keep adding up &
v2.60 is already Build 0079..... But now we have
Build 0007......

I have updated as well, will post results as my Sony Vaio has been having issues before. I have also rolled back to WEP128 due to WPA connect issues with new Axim X50V.

Hi Randalla,

Sorry I dont use windows file sharing, I ment Limewire & Bittorrents. So far so good, nothing unusual exept for a doubeling of the DHCP entry in the Router's log. It's as if it tries a second time to assigne the same IP adress to the same PC five seconds later... other then that it's solid for me. (I use WAP-TKIP)

Also Talon88,
Router Monitor never stoped responding like the first time I tried it. Could have been a fluke. As far as my PC being slow, it's a AMD Athlon xp 3000+ (1.6ghz). Not the fastest but could that have been the problem? Now I get about 200 connections never more... Why do you reach 1700???

Thanks for the update Peter. I might just go for it and see it the problems continue on the LAN side.

I saw problems with router monitor not responding with 2.70. It will take a minute or so to respond and then it will start working again. I thought the router was rebooting at the time but checked the log and the router had not rebooted. Weird.

Experiencing same lags on router monitor startup with 2.70. As solution it was turning off "Display other useful info" in DRCMI 1.40 since reported that info is not found anyway.

I am having huge problems with 2.70 in a small corporate environment.

I can no longer access any Windows XP networked computer, network shares, or network mapped drives. I have internet access, as do all wireless PCs on this network (all wireless unless updating firmware), but the PCs can't see each other. I can't ping each others IPs or route to them.

This router has been horrible. This is the fourth I've had, after three RMA's. I'm about to go buy a real router.
