Call your CC company or check their website. I know MBNA lets you set up "virtual" accounts on their website with their own account numbers, expiration dates, and limits that simply charge to your regular card. After you use the virtual card, you delete it or let it expire, and it can't be used if stolen. MBNA calls this ShopSafe, and you can sign up for it/set it up on their website. When you order something online, you sign on to Shopsafe, specify a limit, and it gives you a temporary account number that you would use to place the order. That account number can only be used at one merchant; to use it on another site, you'd have to generate another account number.
The other option is to apply for another card and ask for a low limit like $500. -- SMTP: Spam and Malware Transfer Protocol. Also used on rare occasion to transmit e-mail messages. |
