updatescenter.com hijack

Hi all,

Trying to help a friend. His browser, IE, redirects to "updatescenter.com" every time he logs on. Seems to be spyware, but can't find much info. He is not very computer literate and would like a simple solution if there is one. Reloading the TCP/IP stack or using Hijack this are not good options. Any help appreciated.
