| Linksys SRX and Cisco VPN Client
I just purchased the new Linksys SRX Router/AP with G which was no problem to setup. I have a Cisco VPN Client that I use to get access to my work resources (Email, intranet, et.al) and I'm having difficulty connecting. The client accepts the soft token key and seems to load properly but eventually times out when trying to access the site. I am thinking it has something to do with MTU settings. Anyone run up against this? |

| I've got a Linksys WRT54GXv2 and experience similar problems with my Intel Netstructure VPN Client when using Wifi. It validates my password, and gets all DNS/WINS settings from the VPN Server, but no IP address;... after a while it times out again. If I hook up my Laptop via a network cable, it works though... the Linksys support of course puts the blame on anything but their own product. You're using to old WiFi drivers on your PC... I've tried it with 5 different Computers with the latest drivers (Compaq EVO N800C, Toshiba Tecra 8200,Tecra 9100, a Tecra 8100 with a Topcom USB WiFi Adapter and a clone PC with a DLink 11G PCI card) and no one of these gets an IP-address from my company's VPN Server. A second problem is that when using PPPoE authentication, the communication drops regulary between the router and ADSL modem. I had to hook up a Wired ADSL Router and use the WRT54GXv2 in DHCP mode or as an Access-point (disabling DHCP and NAT)
Crap Linksys Routers... and to think I bought a Linksys because it is a Cisco company (must be quality).
I'm getting rid of it... will probably go back to go old crappy but working DLink.
Good Luck |

Anyone run up against this? I use the CIsco VPN client with no problem behind my WRT54G with DD-WRT. I am using Cisco VPN ver 3.6.3.a. If you need , PM me and I can send you my configuration settings - if that would help
You may want to call your works help desk. They may have to tweak some tunnel side settings for the Linksys model. You may even get spilt tunneling out of the deal |

| I had this same problem with a wrt54gx v2 using the Cisco VPN client. Wired, the VPN connection worked fine. Wireless, the VPN would lock up either while authenticating or right after.
I was able to fix it by disabling transparent tunneling in the Cisco VPN client. Transparent tunneling is designed for devices that don't support IPSec, which the wrt54gx does.
What didn't work: port forwarding, port triggering, setting up a DMZ, turning off Windows firewall, turning of the Linksys firewall, disabling Norton antivirus. |

| reply to scobarry I have experienced the same problem with my Linksys WRT54GX v2 router not allowing wireless connections to create a VPN link with the Cisco Client. I spoke to Linksys support a few minutes ago and they gave me a Beta version of the firmware. The beta firmware fixed my connection problem. The new version of firmware is 2.00.10, which I have attached to this post.
Good luck and watch for the released firmware from Linksys. |

@rr.com | reply to scobarry I and others have made Cisco VPN client work by choosing a TCP and NOT a UDP connection for the VPN on this router using firmware 2.00.8. |

| Anyone With the Same Problem, i would recommend Jroof's Answer by upgrading to the fireware to 2.00.10 (the one he linked). That worked like a charm for me. Linksys needs to get that out of beta and posted on the site ASAP! 2.00.08 on the WRT54GXv2 was what i had, and i could connect using cisco VPN but was not receiving in traffic in. After i upgraded worked like a charm, no other configuration needed.
Thanks again Jroof! |
