Re: Digital Age 888-529-98

I have the same charge after using amazon.com....I am disputing the charge now....secure server, HA! Here's a tip - there are these cool devices called "secured firewalls". Let's all say it together, "secured firewalls"!!

Amazon twits.....

I have to chime in here. I don't think Paypal or Amazon are to blame. Others have mentioned it and I'm betting on the CardSystems server being hacked. The company was a gateway provider (see Authorize.net) but yet they stored customer information. Why? They were handling data for "research purposes". The lack of responsibility in all of this is amazing. Take responsibility where responsibility is due! Notification to cardholders? Nah, they don't need to know. According to Visa, only about 2 percent of credit cards that are exposed after a data security breach are ever used improperly.

Most things don't get to me, but this does! You try so hard, but then some irresponsible company can't follow the rules, secure data and keep their servers patched!

Has to be more than 2 percent because this is the second card that has had fraud on it for me in the last year.

I don't know...I use my card online all the time, and not once have I been hit, much less two in one year. I think that it depends on where your cc number was stolen from. I buy from all the places mentioned using the same credit card, and not even a nickel in fraudulent charges so far.

I have the Digital Age charge as well, and use both Amazon and Paypal. I will be cancelling my card and changing both accounts. Thanks for your help.

I just got nailed as well. WP-ICONREADY.COM SITTINGBOURNE GB for $8.40 on 09/12/05. AGGGGGHHHHHH!!! It was a Visa Debit Charge. I guess I'll have to cancel the card and get another one issued. Oh, and by the way... this card was NOT saved on PayPal. So I don't believe that was the problem. In fact my last purchase on Ebay recently was with a money order sent by snail mail.

I just got one: 'DIGITAL AGE 888-529-98 CYPRUS SW $24.99 09/17/2005' . I'm not placing blame or anything, but I use this card primarily for Amazon.com, NewEgg.com, MWave.com, and Symantec.com. As far as physical use, pretty much just WalMart and gas stations.

The charge appeared on my Bank of America statement and I couldn't believe that they didn't flag it after all I have seen on the internet. It was for 24.99 dated 9-22 and posted 9-23. I don't belong to any of the saved credit card organization groups(Not PayPal)(haven't used Amazon in months) and rarely use it online. I do not have Quicken. Somebody is making a bunch of money by gaining acess to card numbers somewhere. B of A said they would credit my account but my credibility in them to guard my personal info is badly breached. They also didn't treat me very well. Apparently they hope you won't look too closely at your statement...

I received the same charge on my credit card-Digital Age 888-529-98 with a Cyprus location on 9/28/05. Also a Foreign transaction fee of 0.74. I canceled my card and am initiating a dispute complaint with my CC company. I can't say how my credit card number was obtained-I can only speculate. I do have a PayPal account but I am not sure they have my credit card info. Good luck all-I hope the perpetrators get caught.
