Sith HMPI Did What?Premium join:2004-04-25 Bloomington, IL 1 edit | Water Launch??? Can this be real? I'm thinking no, but what do I know.

Edit: after further review I think it is a rocket edited with a jet. Still it's just weird. -- I am not as dumb as you think I think I am. |

I'm subscribed to every military magazine imaginable (Jane's, SOF, Sprit de Corps) and have not heard of a jet taking off from under water. It's the superimposed image of a jet fighter on top of a submarine missile launch. |

 | reply to Sith HMP You must realize it's a rocket lunch and not a JET LUNCH. |

SeandhiSeeing From a New LevelPremium join:2003-04-19 Humble, TX | reply to Sith HMP It is real. It's a real video of a rocket launching from under the water... just without the rocket. Play the video frame by frame and you can see that the wings on this plane don't cause any disturbance in the water. -- Disclaimer: The comments herein do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the poster, his ISP, or BroadbandReports.com |

That was a jet photo-shopped on top of a Trident missile launch. I believe this is the original video. |

Lunch? You mean like a corned beef Rueben with onion rings and a chocolate shake?
I guess to those who hadn't seen the original video of the missile (it is old, but I've seen it many times), then maybe this might look real. But even so, plenty people have seen enough jets to know that they just don't move like that nor is their exhaust anything similar to that (unless malfunctioning). |

jig join:2001-01-05 Hacienda Heights, CA | reply to Sith HMP it is possible, however, to launch a drone this way. both the jet and prop versions, i believe. they use the initial thrust to get the package out of the water (wings are along the fuselage in an enclosed capsule) then once it's up high enough everything slows down, the capsule sheath falls away, the wings either scissor out or swing out and it glides till the engine turns over. the booster portion falls back into the ocean.
there are ways to launch more fragile longer use drones from the deck of both small ships and subs. |

The only problem would be where in incarnation are the damn jets going to land after a mission? |
