| I was having similiar issues for the past few days...especially as they were performing the scheduled maintenance. On tuesday night I complained about having a 15 min lease time on my ip...this was at the route of all my temporary connection drops. As of right now my lease time is back to 5 days where it should be so hopefully they resolved that issue and perhaps that was the same issue you were having. If you want to check what im talking about...go to the dos prompt and type ipconfig /all and look at the last 2 lines of the display. If the time range is something small (like less than 1 day) then you are having the same issue and should probably talk to tech support about it.
Also, since the maintenance, my connection has been much improved. I'm pretty sure they upgraded their local infrastructure by adding new nodes for load balancing purposes. Things were pretty shaky for the past month or so... |

| Still doing it tonight.
My cable modem lights are all on, and activity light is flashing (SB3100). But the computer will not go anywhere.
If i do a ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew it works perfect....
I getting tired, and no time to call insight during day at work. so i set up a bat file to do the 2 ipconfig command to run every 5 min. So far no problems. |

| reply to crate You people jinxed me! My connection only dropped 4 times today and now it hit the magical number of 5 right after I clicked on this topic.
I live in Urbana Illinois and I am used to the shoddy service.
I was thinking about getting VOIP to save some dough on my phone bill since vonage released a local number for my area. Then I decided to think about it. My connection drops randomly. What if I was on a phone call with someone important or some hot chick was calling me to ask me out on a date? What if my InsightBB connection dropped as soon as she was gonna pop the question?
At least with my land-line, I don't have to worry about random disconnects.
That's right! Thank you InsightBB for convincing me to keep my landline and cellphone service. I'm sure it costs me more but it's more reliable.
I propose we all randomly call them to tell them to "FIX THEIR CRAP!" As we know, they usually play the blame game and blame our stuff for things on their end. This is an area-wide example of bad service. FIX IT.
Sigh, things were so wonderful when @Home ran things. I miss those days. |

I'm not so sure about that honestly. But I would agree that it seems as if more and more users are seeing some sort of connection issue. I'm still not willing to write that off as we all are just moronic end users. Something seems to not be running as it should in multiple areas for many customers.
I can say my VOIP service has been stable. I've not had any issues with disconnects using Insight. Unless you count the recent time when the technician turned my service off a few days early and having to figure out how to solve my own connection issue when we got our recent new install. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics My BLOG ZoneAlarm Help |

| reply to crate What could I check on my pc side that might be causing this?
I have removed my router, so i go right from cable modem to my network card in pc. LAst night i got updated drives for the card, though that fixed it stayed connected for 10 min then lost again, all while the modem was still all light up, and activity light was blinking.
It's so weird, exactly every 10 mins the internet is gone, i run my .bat file(ipconfig /release then /renew) and it works perfect..
anything? I'll have to take a day off next week to have time to call insight. |

| reply to crate Called the tech #.
They was very helpful. They went and change my ip to a 10.#. Then did some stuff and then set me up to go to a static ip each time.
What happend is someone else had my ip as a static. that ip was still in use after they switched, so they are going to track that down.
Not sure what happend but only after the upgrade did this come up. 1hr later net is still perfect |
