| [BT] any way to check a torrent?
OK, this is the deal. i am looking for a film about 9/11/01 being a conspiracy and i am not able to find it using newsgroups or IRC so i decided to give BT a try as i was able to locate torrent files for AVI and MPG versions of the movie.
i am using utorrent since i do not really want to install anything. after this one use i will most likely never use it again so i am trying to keep it simple. i loaded the torrents yesterday and i have not been able to download a single byte of either file. i am a bit of a novice with BT and i have to admit i do not fully understand all the information i am being given but it looks to me like one of these files has 2 seeders.
so basically i want to know if there is any way to 'check' a torrent file and see if it is a good torrent or am i wasting my time even trying with these torrents?
any help would be appreciated,

| torrentspy is a good program to scout torrents to see how many seeders/leechers they have as well as the file names and information contained within the torrent you will be downloading.

well i guess i do not need to 'check' the torrents after all. on the second day i now have 1 percent of one of the files. so i guess i will just leave it alone for a few weeks and see what happens. |

i am not sure if this makes any difference but yesterday i loeaded a torrent for something i thought would be a bit more popular. sure enough that more popular file sparked immediate activity. it took about 12 hours and i had to upload about 3 times the amount i wanted to download but BT came through for the more popular file. it also brought up my ratio.
well to my surprise it seems that this activity and increased ratio seems to have sparked one of my orgiinal torrents into activity. the torrent that took 2 days to reach a single percent is now sitting at 54% complete and slowly trickeling in at a few KB/s. of course it is going back out at an average of 30 to 50 KB/s but this morning i am feeling confident that this torrent might actually work after all.
