Spoke with Vonage today and the sales rep claimed when you call 911 on their system. It's not the same as dialing 911 from a land-line phone.
You routed to a local call center. If they don't pickup, your routed to a national or state call center.
Any ideas on where to find these numbers for your area? You could just put them on speed dial for use on other providers. |

The signals are digitized at the cell phone and travel digitally to the other end. WHat do think that the cell towers have a bunch of POTS lines coming in to transfer the calls?? -- FWD#: 223611 |

Maybe he meant that ultimately, the voice path has to become analog when the call arrives at your PSTN front door? -- »voipboards.net |

@192.147.x.x | I have current cell service that gets 911. I have a older digital and analog cell phone that has no service, but they still connect to 911.
I keep the older digital phone charged just for backup. |
