| reply to reduxtion Welcome to the club! I have the NetGear DG834 with the latest firmware and it is rock-solid. It typically stays connected for one month at a time.
Of course, it isn't "supported" by Qwest. So you need to keep an Actiontec or Cisco around just for those rare occasions when you need to convince Qwest that "they" have a problem. |

| reply to reduxtion I have purchased a Netgear DG834G to replace my Actiontec modem. It works great ... when it works. The connecion constantly gets disconnected, and thus I get disconnected via the wireless and the DSL connection itself. What is happening? Is there something I need to do to stop this? |

@qwest.net
| reply to RevMortis Any suggestions on this issue? I've set up my dsl modem (by Actiontech), with Qwest service, but my Internet access only works with the ethernet cable connected to the powerbook. It is a wireless modem, but I cannot get the laptop to recognize the signal. Is it a setup step I missed? I have used my laptop in other places with a wireless signal broadcast, and it automatically recognizes it. Otherwise, service has been great. Just hoping to be able to roam around while connected, without having to plug in. Thanks,

| reply to AthlGrond said by AthlGrond :Good point on the VPI and VCI settings! All CAP only modems are incompatible with new accounts at Qwest. The Cisco 675 (for example). So the modem must support DMT. Anyone else care to add some other known requirements...? So. On the off-chance that I have can make the move into Qwest territory, I can use my SpeedStream 4100?
G.dmt modulation VPI/VCI can be changed to 0/32 (currently 0/35) Protocol can be changed to PPPoA (currently PPPoE)

said by dkrenik :Where may I find info on the supported modems for Qwest DSL? The supported modems are: Actiontec® GT701-wg Actiontec® 1520 and 1524 Intel® PRO/DSL 3200 Intel® PRO/DSL 2200 Cisco® 675/678 Arescom® NetDSL 800 Accton® DSL 1000
Of these I think they are primarily only distributing the Actiontec® GT701.

| reply to RevMortis said by RevMortis :The trick is to make sure that you can update the VPI and VCI settings. If I remember correctly, it's 32 and 0 for Qwest. Close. It's VPI 0, VCI 32, with a few exceptions for certain ISPs- for AOL (eww) customers it's 0.35; can't remember if Earthlink is the same or not. Probably 99% of Qwest ADSL customers are going to be set at 0.32 though. |
