ok, I put in the bridge mode and made sure that the router and modem are on different Lan settings 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.1.1 and once again I am stuck with an inconsistent connection. also tried changing the MTU. I first tried 1400 then 1500 then 1492 based on different forums. I am really lost here now.... thanks for the help though! |

The netgear connection wizard says I am using PPPoE instead of DHCP. Most of the forums are for connections with DHCP. I am in Rockville, MD with Verizon DSL and I am not sure if PPPoE is standard for this area. I cannot get back on the 192.168.1.1 page even though I reset both the router and modem and the modem internet light is on. The internet connection is back to unstable and slow, but at least partially working on one laptop. Thanks for the suggestions thus far! |
