using only the wireless feature of a A90-327W15-06

I have a Westell modem connected to a Linksys BEFSR41 (192.168.1.1) this is connected to a PC on the second floor. This router is then connected to a second Linksys BEFSR41 in the basement set up as a switch (192.168.1.2) which is connected to 2 PC's.

I just got a 'free' Westell A90-327W15-06 from Verizon and do not want to change the two Linksys routers.

I have plugged a crossover cable from the basement Linksys(switch) to the Westell A90 and my laptop can connect to the net via the wireless router BUT it is NOT secure.

any ideas on how i can 'simply' make this wireless connection 'secure'?

thanks

If the 327w was made in China, the best you can do is use WEP encryption. If it was made in the US, then WPA is available. See this post: »westell WEP and WPA set up

When I go into Configuration I get the drop down list but there are no subheadings under wireless.

I get directed to the 'change password' page.

So change the (default) password and then you'll be able to get to the other pages.

I figured that out about 30 seconds after i sent the e-mail.

Now i have a conflict, the Linksys router is 192.168.1.1 and the second Linksys switch is 192.168.1.2 so i have a conflict with the Westell - how do i change the Westell address to 192.168.1.3?

thanks

You can change the LAN ip in one of the configuration menu, I know you can cause I did it on mine, I just don't remember exactly where. I can't reboot the AP right know, my children will be pissed:D but start with the DHCP enabled and I think it will let you change it from there, mine is off, I can't see the option in this state.
