I had NOD32 for two years. I currently am beta testing Kaspersky Internet Security 2006. My vote is for Kaspersky Anti virus 2006 which will go gold before KIS 2006. You can buy KAV 2005 and then use the key to upgrade for free to 2006 which is going to be very different from 2005. If you want a security suite then KIS 2006 is going to be great but it won't be released until January 2006. It has a process guard among other goodies.
I also suggest you look at Bit Defender. It is excellent also. Bit Defender updates several times daily and KAV updates many times daily.
If, however, you want a really good (not quite as good as KAV, BitDefender or NOD32 but quite adequate unless you are a high risk user), AV that has a GUI a lot like Norton so you feel right at home immediately then go with Trend Micro. I had PC-Cillin (Trend Micro) 2003 and it has the best GUI of them of all outside of Norton and was at that time quite similar to NAV's GUI and I think it still is. The one thing Norton excels in is a great GUI. NOD32's GUI is going to be quite foreign to you after Norton. It's much better than it was when I first got it afterhaving used NAV for two years, but it still is not easy to use IMO.
One of the best things about Trend Micro, aside from their great GUIs and fine AV, is that you get FREE phone support and that support is located in California. I thought their phone support was excellent but their email support was poor. Kaspersky also offers free phone support but I have not tried it so I don't know what it is like. If you are interested in Kaspersky, you should buy not from Kaspersky but from their US distributor ICE Systems as you will then get free support from ICE as well as support from Kaspersky (and ICE has the best prices). If you are interested in any AV other than KAV?KIS, you should also purchase an anti trojan application. -- Around 2005 a sudden spark will catalyze a Crisis mood.
