Odd/legit e-mail after cancelling OOL 2 months ago

I cancelled OOL abut 2 months ago for FIOS. I just recvd this in one of my OOL e-mail accounts. There are things in here that I knew nothing about and seems to be an opposite to the TOS rules I was aware of. I was always fearful of uploading too many pictures or other files to family and friends, this seems to say the hosting is allowed? Thanks for any help, copy below and further note

I cancelled OOL 2 months ago, not "requesting to cancel" now. I will check my bill to be sure I haven't been billed anything further but has anyone else recvd an e-mail like this at any point especially months after cancelling service? What is BOOSTSM and what is the website and 15 e-mails with 1 gig they're talking about? These are things I was unaware of or was that the beta test of 20/2 in LI? I didn't realize there were more extras to it than speed if that's what it is. "The ability to host your own Web server or e-mail server. " What the heck is tha aboutt? I thought no hosting was allowed for anything?

Thanks for any input, much appreciated. I'm confused, Will give them a call but was curious if anyone else recvd this and what these supposed xtras are. It appears to be a legit e-mail from OOL support.

Looks like thats the marketing term for 20/2 service, "Boost" ...kinda catchy.

Funny that they are emailing you to accounts that technically should have been deleted a while ago.

Also interesting about the 1GB limit of storage for the email accounts (and 15 accounts?!?!?).

Don't currently, you only get 25MB?

Wow.. So basically they made a mistake, perhaps, and now we know a lot more about the upcoming 20/2 service. Optimum Online Boost with 1GB size e-mail accounts, 15 accounts. WOW... How much you want to bet this is either a mistake, fraud or if they ARE telling the truth HOW THE HELL will they afford to provide all this? They had enough trouble running newsgroups and the mail server just a year or so ago.

You don't know how much they're going to charge!

They continue to keep your e mail after you cancel. How long? I have had it held over 3 months when I was out of town. I have heard over a year. Someone said that it is alive at your address until someone else moves to your place and sets up service.

You can keep looking at the mail from the internet until it goes away.

I'm quite sure I'll be moving to FIOS. I doubt OOL will charge anything less than $50/month for this, probably much more.
Not to mention all the restrictions.

for the hell of it i just called "Residential customers call 1-800-300-5215" and talked to sales rep.
she told me that starting Nov 1st, in competition with Verizon, they will be upgrading EVERYBODY(i specificly asked about Brooklyn, she said everybody including brooklyn) to their "BOOST" package 20/2 and 15 email accounts. upgrade will be automatic and no increase in price.

Somehow I find this hard to believe. Perhaps they are simply doing this because they know the majority of people do not use anywhere near 10mbps/1mbps let alone 20mbps/2mbps and 15, 1 GB e-mail accounts. I think what they are doing is creating a package so they can "compete and / or beat FIOS 15/2." I also am willing to bet the capping / bandwidth usage policy becomes much more strict....

We ain't getting anything for free from cablevision, we are going to be giving up a lot if we want to get this upgrade from them.

I believe you, but I tend to doubt the sales representative. Did you ask them about a new 20/2 package called Boost? or..... Did they provide the name and details and date? Sometimes sales reps will just spit back false info along with what you provided. If you ask them about the new package called Boost that is 20/2 they may just lie to get you of the phone. I am on live support right now on the internet, I'll see if they know. If not, I'll give them a call.

ah, cool.... So what they are doing is probably upgrading each town that has direct FIOS competition first and then towns that don't have direct competition right now are probably going to be upgraded if there is high node utilization to provide 20/2 service to everyone. Hopefully, I will receive the new service in November, since I believe my node is low utilization.
I'm still waiting in line to see if I can get a confirmation out of online support....

That is nice - I hope she is right! I'll believe her when I see it.

20/2 will probably work great for about 75% of the nodes. The other 25% are going to be trouble - already are. I hope they are going to accelerate their node splitting.

This sounds really good. Luckily my node is not saturated ...I always get the the maximum download and upload.

Maybe if your node is saturated then your speed should increase.

hmm .i think mine might be coming up soon. I have seen an awful lot of work being done on the poles by my house from cablevision.

It also helps that i live right by the cablevision store on 109 in lindenhurst lol.

If they start doing fios areas first, does this mean the red headed step child of cablevision (Bronx and Brooklyn)won't get the boost speed till after the new year.
