Triple Play can be good deal; but check prices

Before you sign up for any service, you should do some research on the alternatives. Triple Play can be a good deal if the discount is big enough. But 1st you have to check out the best deals you can get on the individual options from elsewhere.

But for some people convenience and the lack of time to investigate alternatives makes Triple Play a good deal even if it isn't the best price. Their free time has value and a little extra cost isn't worth it to them to spend hours investigating alternatives.

As for myself, I'm retired and have plenty of free time and I found I can get a better deal by choosing my communications options a la carte.

P.S.> the article should really be talking about Quadruple Play as mobile access starts becoming part of the all-in-one communications packages.

No doubt cablevisions triple play is a great deal for the money, but if quality of service is important I would highly reccomend Fios even if it costs more.

I have FTTH and I get basic telephone, digital TV w/DVR includes something like 35 premium movie channels, and 2.8Mbps up/down high speed internet. We pay about $160/month.

I do it mainly for the convenience of one bill. I've checked around and I would pay about the same or less if I went with Direct TV and Bellsouth DSL.

The extra upload is a perk, but if I had the cable option I would probably take it. The pings on my fiber internet are not always the greatest. The latency jumps around alot during peak times. Mainly due to the route the ISP uses to get us to the backbone.

But anyway that's my situation.

May be for the average consumer the Triple Play from CV is a good deal, but my line of thinking has been to never put all my eggs in one basket.

Vonage would be dependant on Fios, so I wouldn't exactly say you have a truly separate service.

Well, eventually, everything will depend on the pipe into youre home. I was saying it's a seperate service in the sense of if I had instead subscribed to CV's VoIP product, "Optimum Voice."

What VoIP product is not dependent upon the data connection to the home? Withe upload that Fios provides (I'm soon to go to the 5mibt upload speed), QoS is not even an issue here for the VoIP lines.

Do you subscribe to a triple play?
