| Interference from Moto cells
you read my first posting to your site (#46) you will read about the problems I and others have had with interference from their Moto cells, when in close proximity to anything with a speaker. Well, my guess was correct, the Internet access features are definitely the genesis of these issues. I have just ended a call to my service provider, where I asked to have ONLY the telephonic remain and all other Internet features (including text messaging) cancelled. I no longer have the interference.
The representative I was speaking to used the term "Microwaves" not RF when describing what it is that creates this anomaly. This, then, cannot be a healthy environment for anything aerobic and water-based (i.e. my brain, my cat, your children). I am pleased now that, whatever it is that was filling my living space with stray signals is now no longer present. I can hold the V551 right up to my VCR, my T.V., my stereo & subwoofer, and my 2.4 GHz GE cordless land-line, without ANY interference.
I found this post in alt.cingular. I do not use text messaging or the internet with my Moto Cell so I cancelled those services. It made a big difference with reception. I thought others with similar problems might like to try this solution. |

2 edits | It's not just Moto, it's all GSM based cell phones, Cingular, T-mobile as well. Nextel's are really bad at it. It's just interference, don't believe the CSR that it is microwaves. It happens more at 850mhz than it does at 1900mhz which is why Cingular and Nextel are worse than tmobile, since tmobile uses 1900mhz, but it still occurs. It's not just data either, calls do interfere with the speakers as well, see attachment. That was a V551 making a call to voicemail, recorded with a Nokia 6230. |

| reply to Sky King my GSM phone Samsung x427m causes horrible interference with things such as my TV and any speakers im near. Now and then it will cause a pulsating buzzing noise for about 15 seconds unless I cover the antenna. -- »www.myspace.com/7Cities |

| reply to Sky King This is normal and I put my phone near a speaker, as it makes this sound before the phone rings so I know about a sec and a half.
If you put it near your monitor it makes little lines. -- It's NOT Ni-kon It's NE-KON!

| reply to Sky King i didn't notice if my verizon phones did it or not, but i have long noticed a noise thru my computer/speakers. i have a habit of tossing my cell phone on my desk when i'm sitting there and usually the computer will make some sort of noise before and during it ringing. (2 different motorola phones, cingular based)
no the additional features have nothing to do with it, i always turn off my web and text and it's always been there. |
