Called them this morning. I have to go to the main office in Hartford. They said i should have gotten the renewal before this. Home security wants more pic's of me or something (kidding).. seems odd to me. What a pain. -- Rockin' The Awakening Heart, Mind and Soul »leeniebreckenridge.com/ CD now available! |

| reply to Rungel I got mine in trumbull, but with the old system. It took 8 weeks to get my trumbull permit, and then another 8 weeks to get my state permit.
Now it's just 8 weeks to get your temp state permit and then you go to the state police and get your perm permit. |

| reply to Rungel You will need to take the NRA safety course. Then you apply to your towns police department which will require fingerprinting, a copy of your certificate from the class, a few forms filled out, and a few checks. The town will do the work and issue you a temporary state permit within 8 weeks. With temp permit you go to a state police barracks that handles pistol permits and give them your temp permit and they will issue you a permanent permit that is valid for 5 years.
If your town doesn't have a police department, I think you apply at the town hall. |

I do like target practice. And you really need a permit to do that. That's one of the reasons i got it. Glenn it depends on what your town your living in. Some towns require 3 letters of reference. Some towns require nothing. Expect a course in handgun safety. Which is like 75$ Oh i did my time in the military Thanks! I'll contact the local PD for the info.
Back when I lived in Mass, I had to go to the local PD, I was fingerprinted, they did a background check (took a few days, this was the mid 90's, no one really had the interweb) then I was issued the permit.

| reply to harlenm You know, this is what really burns my arse. We live in a nation with a second amendment, which, in the clearest, plainest English, defines that we have the right to keep and bear arms, and elsewhere, it defines that our rights are INALIANABLE rights.
Then we have the states, which, for some reason, are immune to making unconstitutional gun laws.
When the heck are the citizens going to revolt against this miscarriage of justice?
Look at the poor folks in Suffolk, County, LI, who are living in sheer terror because of a rash of 36 home invasions this year. This is the result of these Communist gun laws.
I'm sorry if this is a little off topic, but this is one of the evil faces of government that makes my blood boil enough to kill a government agent. I'll own, carry and do whatever the hell I deem necesary to protect myself and my family, from criminals--including those who operate "under color of law".
Connecticut, get it through your collective government heads--the citizens have a RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. Right. Not privilage. Rights cannot be licensed. I don't need no damned license to carry. It's in the US Constitution, the highest law of the land! -- Take care,

| reply to Rungel Also, it's not so much that we "want" to carry a firearm, it's just that some of us realize that no one can protect us except ourselves, and we take the responsibility of doing something about that. Yeah, I'd rather that I didn't have to carry a gun, but you know what, we live in a world that doesn't allow that. You want protection from the police, it won't happen, they respond to calls, they don't prevent them. The responsibility is yours. |

Chill out, you don't have to worry about the good guys carrying guns. It's the bad guys that don't follow the laws that you have to worry about. |

| reply to harlenm Why would you need to carry a gun when you go out to dinner? Why not join the military if you like to carry a weapon. You can carry that bad boy 24 hours a day.As you can tell,I hate the idea of anyone carrying a gun.Nothing personal intended here.It just scares me to know that someone sitting next to me,in some bar,is carrying a gun. -- Welcome home Vietnam Vets."We were soldiers once...and young" |

| reply to Rungel Yes it does!
CT isn't really that bad for gun laws though. Vermont and Alaska are the only states that allow you to carry without a permit. There aren't too many restrictions in CT as to where you can't carry. My sister lives in GA and I researched the gun laws there and you can't carry anywhere that alcohol is sold for on premise consumption. That means you can't carry if you go out to dinner. That's a stupid law, and we don't have that here in CT. |

1 edit | reply to Rungel Why not just move out of this hell hole and move to a state where they do not require a permit?
Doesn't CT's Constitution say a citizen has the right to bear arms to protect himself and the state?
