Evolution of Web-based worms

"..
We've passed Black Tuesday for October, and Microsoft has released various security advisories - some of which have the potential to be used by the next round of worms. The speculation surrounding new worms appearing after every patch Tuesday is highly predicable and exciting, yet there are others who can barely stifle a yawn. For the latest round of patches, are we going to see a widespread worm develop from these vulnerabilities? I don't believe we will.

Don't get me wrong, I think that these vulnerabilities are a significant concern for any individual who doesn't patch (these people do exist), or for companies that are slow to patch. But lately, I think that people are a lot more aware of applying their security updates - or the fact that these often happen automatically now - and the pool of vulnerable systems for a worm is much smaller. ..."
