Re: Asterisk@Home setup problems

I need a small PBX for my company. I need something quick, reliable, and uncomplicated. I don't have time to turn this into a hobby. I need my employees to be able to easily fix problems when I am out of office. Am I better off just going with something like www.gotvmail.com or are there any other incomplex solutions? Thanks!

If you just want Asterisk@Home to work without having to go back to college, go to NerdVittles.com and read their HOW-TO's from the bottom up. They start you with burning the CD and don't miss a beat.

I know alot of people are not going to like what I'm about to say, but here it goes.......

If you want to use Asterisk in your VoIP setup, don't start with ast@home!!! Go to the asterisk wiki »www.voip-info.org , do your homework, and install and configure jsut plain old asterisk. Yes, the web based config in aah is nice, but if you don't understand the underlaying principles about how asterisk works, or how to configure asterisk troubleshooting is going to be impossible.

Here is another great resource for getting started with asterisk: »www.automated.it/guidetoasterisk.htm
this guide basically takes you through the complete installation step by step.

The learning curve for asterisk is fairly steep, but be patient. I'll also bet that once you get asterisk running, and get used to configuring it manually through the .conf files you won't even bother to switch to aah.

are you sure your AAH box is actually up and running asterisk? Can you log into the console and look at the real time asterisk transactions?

I have been trying to set up AAH for the past 2 hours and am getting no where. I am getting soooo frustrated with this crap! I have been trying around for several hours and am improving on nothing. Searched the entire internet but can find any basic help. All I can find is guides that tell me how to set it up, but nothing that tells me what to do if the instructional guides don't work

I just set up an extension 200 and tried to use X-Lite but it wont even let me register. Like I cant save the parameters I entered, they just keep poping back up. So I figured I would ignore that and try to make a test call to *45 anyway, but it says "call not approved".
I figured it must be X-Lite so I tried to setup my SPA-1001 with Asterisk info, but I still cant call *45. I can hit * but as soon as I hit 4 I get a fast busy signal.

SOMEONE please help. I just want to see a small sign of progress. Thanks for any help
