[BroadVoice] VOIP over Wi-Max

Does anyone have any experience using VOIP over a Wi-Max connection? More specifically, I'm interested in using either Verizon or Sprint highspeed wireless broadband access. They guarantee speeds of 300-500 KBPS, with bursts up to 2000 KBPS, so I'm thinking it should be sufficient for VOIP. It should work, right?

I think you'll find that VoIP success depends more upon latency and jitter than bandwidth.

If you know somebody who already has the wireless ISP you're interested in, ask them to test it with »www.testyourvoip.com

do you mean cellular? if so, the latency is likely to kill it.

Not to Hijack, but after running the test your VoIP test to all the cities listed I get between 3.8 and 4.0 on all of them.

Isn't that pretty good?

Yeah, that's not too bad.

The services offered by Verizon and Sprint use CDMA technology with EV-DO (Evolution-Data Only). Downlink is 300-500 KBPS, and uplink averages around 110 KBPS. I suppose it's similar to cellular. Is latency inherent with cellular communications?
