Thanks Action Man! I tried that already. I was able to follow the frames and the layers, just not how to CREATE them to make it work. I'm new to fireworks and I know I'm just being "DUH" LOL

Here we go with your small tutorial .

Goto file/new and create your scene (200x100 in my case).

Type your text and resize accordingly, then goto modify/flatten selection, then draw yourself some type of writing implement and place it at the right hand side of your text.

Now add a few more frames to your animation with the + sign.

Now where it says "1 Frame1", drag that to the end of your animation, so it ends up as frame5, now highlight everything in frame 5 and use copy, then goto frame 4 and paste it there, now you can start editing your animation, delete part of the A as per the picture and move the pencil in place.

Now its just a matter of copying and pasting each time you have edited your image, add new frames as required.

This mini-tutorial assumes you have some basic knowledge of working with Fireworks, if there is anything you dont understand or feel i may have left out just let me know and i`ll add more as needed ...
