[connectivity] load coil workaround

IF you are told that your POTS lines dont qualify because there are load coils on your lines, there is a workaround for this..

call your local telco and advise them you want call forwarding... this will force them to remove the load coils on your line wait a week or so then re order your dsl service.

reasoning: call forwarding wont work if there are load coils on a line, so they must be removed for the feature to work.

Who told you this? They obviously don't know what they are talking about...Call Forwarding is a function of the CO switch, and has nothing to do with Loads...And the Caller ID myth is also not accurate...

Do some more research before posting such inaccurate info - and maybe you can also register here?

I thought I remembered that also, but couldn't find it. We should probably dump that FAQ.

Yea, good idea, since the FAQ is spreading the wrong information..Caller ID can work through 10 load coils easily, since it sends the call data in-band (it doesn't rely on out-of-band signalling). OOB signalling can be affected by loads....

FAQ retired. It's just plain inaccurate... and load coils aren't the issue they used to be. In other words, it's an asked question, but not really a "frequently" asked question, anymore. It can be taken care of in the forum when it arises. I appreciate the tip; a lot of the FAQ have been there since the forum started, when DSL was first available... the last major overhaul was back when Cariad and I first cohosted... FAQ cleanup is certainly a priority, right now. There's a lot of just plain dated info, in there, too, right now. Thanks.

It will never happen. POTS is required to have a margin of functionality and voice qualify for loops over 15000K. DSL is not a priority when is comes to affected voice quality.

If voice quality is affected by the removal of coils, a DSL order will be dropped.

Did you find this gem in a fortune cookie? That is the most absurd, ludicrous piece of misinformation I have ever heard.
Advising the users here to hold their phones over their heads and cluck like chickens will probably have more of an effect on their DSL than your advice.

I can understand why Verizon refuses to install DSLAMS in the barrios,But why can't they pull a simple choke to sell you service that they'll profit from? What a bunch of JACKOFFS! This only illistrates their own stupidity!

IQ's greater than 50 need not apply at Verizon! I SWEAR,A trained monkey can do better than these guys!

Now what exactly does your rant have to do with the original (granted - woefully incorrect post)?

Perhaps you failed the BSQT part 1 ?

Heh,This stuff is funnier that SHIT! Lets see....Here's a Verizon customer thinking up sneeky and creative ways to buy more Verizon services. Any capitalist worth his weight in salt would tell his employees " Hey! Hurry UP and Pull the GODDAMN choke were losing money!"!

Its like saying......

NO sir,I won't sell it to you because I'm to lazy to walk to the cash register!

If your within DSL line limits you don't even need the Choke!

Maybe Verizon ought to go to the Old Folks Home and sign up the retirees ,and have them shinny up the poles to pull coils!

Maybe you should stick with your cable connection since it is quite obvious that you have no clue as to how the entire telco plant around the world has been wired for over 100 years...Load Coils are quite necessary for longer loops so that voice quality doesn't suffer. Isn't that what the telco plant was originally built for?

Opps! I forgot I was posting a reply to a troll....

LOL@ Zoo. Uneducated and ignorant is no way to go through life. Settle down and relax. I hear if they pull the load coil, your copper line turns to fiber and you get Terabyte speeds. Thats just what I heard.

I can verify that, I climbed the pole and removed my load coil. The next day I had fiber and terabyte speeds.

And I have also heard that fiber in your diet is a good thing.
Perhaps the zookeeper or whatever attempt at humor that made up name depicts was in fact his real occupation in which case even Verizon would not hire him to remove the coils.
Although I heard the company is looking for a few short-stops to remove the 440 to ground coils....yes 440 to ground.
Someone to test the continuity between the 440 on the utility poles above the telco cable and the ground. Requires little experience and is definitely listed as a temporary position.:p
I understand that when people first report to the job, they are shocked at how simple the task is.

ROTFLMAO!! That was a good one!! Yes, they might have some of those openings available, as the turnover and attrition rate are quite high...:)
