So does this mean cable cos will now be doing credit checks on all new customers to see if they qualify fro the quadruple play or only if you buy cellular service from them? In addition can you buy only cellular service from them instead of in a bundle? This will be very interesting when the details of how they will offer it comes out. |

| reply to liquidnw actually Cable already does a credit check well at least Time Warner does in Ohio especially WOH and NWOH.
But since Sprint and Nextel are now together they're credit scores have been reduced. They are approving just about anyone. I applied for a Nextel phone back in July and they required $250. Now I ran it about a month ago and it went to $150 plus my 18% discount I get from having a corporate deal with them thru a company I sell products for.
Point is though; credit checks are ran for everything, gas, electric, telephone, cable, etc. |

I have never had a credit check run for natural gas, electricity, cable TV or landline phone service. -- If everything seems to be going well, you've obviously overlooked something. |

Credit Checks are there. Thats how they get their "deposit" if you do not meet their requirements. |

| How about you call them? SBC didn't run one when I applied for landline service or DSL. No deposit, and my credit sucks. Same goes for the other services I mentioned. In Illinois, ComEd runs a credit check for electrical service, but I don't have service from them.
Again, I say this seems to vary from company to company. I'm not disputing that some companies run them; I'm simply stating that it varies, and not everyone does. -- If everything seems to be going well, you've obviously overlooked something. |

| SBC runs them. I applied for service from them and I had to pay $100 for local service and couldnt have LD for about 6 months, DSL was required to be billed to a credit card if i wanted it. Instead of paying it I had my dad call and get service for me.
AEP/American Electric Company- Credit Check, Time Warner Cable- Credit Check, Columbia Gas Companies- Credit Check.
and chances are Comcast and everyone else does too and just doesnt say anything.
And for SBC that little hold time when you wait before they start to take your order after your personal information is obtained---thats when they're checking your credit and to see if you are who you say you are---checking to see if you SSN matches your name. |

| Then explain to me why there are no inquiries from these companies on my credit report. Whenever someone pulls my credit, the company name and date appear in the Inquiries section. Not only is it an automated process, it's the law. -- If everything seems to be going well, you've obviously overlooked something. |

| said by hottboiinnc :Ever think they use a 3rd party company to do it? I'll concede that that's possible, but I still have never seen any inquiries on my report that I couldn't point at and say "Oh, that was when I applied for such-and-such credit card or such-and-such loan."

| didn't say they were doing it. I said they could.
Not all companies comply with the fair debit reporting act and they can use any basically any source to gain information about you if its public information or pay to get it.
Its called common sense. Stay out of the radar get what you want. Pay another company to do it for you, get what you want. And you're credit report wouldnt show if they want your score. The credit report says who wanted the report. Score and Report are seperate. You can pay for one or the other or both. |

I know they're separate, but they're both going to show up as an inquiry on my report. You've also failed to answer my question as to what your source is - simply citing "common sense" doesn't apply here.
This thread has jumped the shark, and it's clear you're just talking out of your ass. I'm done. Have a nice day. -- If everything seems to be going well, you've obviously overlooked something. |
