Yeah, one of the things I'll miss is the excellent (contracted out - not actually run by Primus) news servers.
I'll probably stick with them for a month or two to see what my volumes are like. Will be keeping a close eye on TekSavvy's imminent BC launch (talking about Jan/Feb with a 100GB cap - but probably poor usenet support). |

| reply to danf I think I'll wait around a little bit to see when TekSavvy starts up, provided it's not longer than 3 months.
After dealing with the incompetent people at Primus (who by the way aren't willing to admit they made a mistake when they sent off emails to everyone without notifying customer service and tech support, and then keeping everyone in the dark until late during the disconnection day) I am just going to wait for a couple weeks to see what these imposed caps are. If it's 50GB, forget it, I may as well get Shaw that has the speed at least. |

| reply to danf quote: That's where you're wrong Mac Write, uniserve does not resell telus.
Uniserve resells through Telus in the West and Bell in the East.
Telus controls the lines in the West, so you need to go through them to provide service. |

1 edit | reply to danf just for the record, here's a snap of the current web page together with a recent previous web page from Googles cache. (at least i hope I attached it right)
If I were a primus customer that signed up under terms stating something as clear as "No cap on downloads!" I'd be pretty pissed at being threatened for usage now.
shouldn't customers be talking about false advertising / bait and switch...!?
EDIT: ...guess i screwed up the attach. YOu can see for yourself, google primus "No cap on downloads!", click on Cached |

@telus.net | reply to danf I think Primus customers have a real gripe and should look at different ways to file complaints such as the Better Business Bureau. You can also check out consumer information on the Government Canada website to look other options. |

| reply to danf Interesting, I did a search on Primus through the BBB and they've had issues before:
said by BBB : These complaints concerned:
2 Advertising Issues 1 Sales Practice Issues 1 Product Issues 3 Contract Issues 7 Customer Service Issues 8 Billing or Collection Issues 2 Service or Repair Issues
I can see they've had Customer Service issues, and I fully understand that after finding out how incompetent they are. They've also had advertising issues, which I'm also kind of wondering about. |

| reply to danf I'm waiting it out for now. I actually have a 2nd ISP so if I want to dl something at a reasonably fast rate I just use the other one.
I'm still ticked that they advertised unlimited downloads and now they can just "change" it at their will. If they knew that it wasn't going to be sustainable they shouldn't have advertised it in the first place. |

Primus already changed their website and removed the "no caps" from it. It now uses the words "Unlimited Access". They did the change some time last week, so if you want to file a complaint against Primus you have to dig up a copy of their old advertisement. |

@shawcable.net | reply to goodtea For those thinking of switching to telus, make sure you order it atleast 2 weeks in advance, since it takes them a while to get it setup and going. |

 danf
join:2005-11-10 Abbotsford, BC | reply to danf Uh, I don't think you can order in advance. You have to cancel Primus and get them to release the port before calling Telus or it will fail. |

| reply to danf Hi, I just found out my connection is out earlier this morning(or was it late night?...) Anyway, I didn't received any call or whatever and it is kinda odd getting disconnected during the weekend right? Hopefully this is something with the telus connection/hardware around the network here. Anyone else got problem? I haven't got time to call to find out what it is and don't really want to either since from what you guys said about their crappy tech support... Now using the dialup to post obviously.... |
