| reply to GeekNJ Re: Capping Discussion Here Only - Part 6
said by GeekNJ :As for capping, I could care less. It hasn't effected me and it likely won't. Doesn't mean I hate CV because others have been capped. It doesn't mean I might at some time in the future be disappointed with their service, or not even be disappointed but switch for a better value that comes along. I have to ask. Got a digital camera? 5mp or bigger? Ever upload a couple hundred to a site like Kodak or CVS or WalMart? I've been capped a couple times for doing just that. They tell me that I should spend more time uploading the shots. A few at a time, with long pauses in between. I have other things to do, so I just drop whatever I have shot that I want posted on the Kodak upload plugin, and I go do something else. If the one or two seconds between each photo is not good enough for them, I don't have any desire to sit there and remember which photo I'm up to for the next 'batch' and I certainly don't want to spend a full day uploading what should be over and done with in a couple minutes of MY time and uploaded in a hour or two of the computer's That's all I want to not waste my time, that's what this is all about for the 'ordinary' people. -- »www.Warpstock.org |

I have a digital SLR now and the pics at highest resolution (not counting Raw) are rather large. I just had a backup DVD created and mailed to me from Imagestation and it contained all the pictures. Normally, I'm not uploading hundreds of pics at a time, but after a vacation I have uploaded 100 or so at a time.

| reply to SSidlov Its bull. THIS IS HIGH SPEED INTERNET. Files are not 10kilobytes anymore. Alot of them are over a meg. Especialy high quality images. This isnt 1997 anymore. Now is it. I am very angry with what Cablevision has done and being a past employee at there offices makes me even more angry. We have HIGH SPEED internet so we can download and upload files as fast as possible with out much of a wait time. It annoys me how much I am not allowed to host a game server. Wait I got Xbox Live as well(I cant play all day on that or I will get capped) I mean please whats next. They will tell us over the phone. Do not upload anything. Just download. Cablevision and OOL need to upgrade there network. Im glad they are slowly losing there customer base. Makes me smile with glee and happiness! |

| reply to GeekNJ said by GeekNJ : but after a vacation I have uploaded 100 or so at a time. Guess I'm just lucky. (sorry for the late reply) I don't know. I have a 1G card in my cam, and another gig of cards in my bag and taking JPEGs, I can take 2-350 shots at a clip and in the 10 months I've owned my camera, I've taken over 7,000 shots most of which are on Kodak's site. So every week, 150-250 are going to be 'good enough' that some other parent (I go to the football games and my daughter's in the marching band) may want that shot. So, I upload them all. It's not unusual to upload 250-500mb. When it's all done, I have a list on Kodak's site with every band parent's email and I send a link to them. At the recent pot luck, everyone was telling me how much they appreciate the pictures each week. If they buy a few from kodak's site, I get to keep my shots up there for free. It's unreasonable to cap me for doing this. And cameras are going bigger, and the jpegs are getting bigger. Once you realize that it doesn't cost you money to take the pictures in the first place (like film does) there is no limit to the number of pictures you can take so long as you have someplace to offload your shots to once the card is full. If I thought that taking TIFF shots at 14mb each was worthwhile I would take those but Kodak doesn't accept that format. -- »www.Warpstock.org |

I was last year, twice and had to get 'The Lecture'. What happens currently is that they cut my bandwidth temporarily so that something that Kodak thinks should take 20-30 minutes when it starts, takes an hour or two in reality. -- »www.Warpstock.org |
