Announcement: The JJ Memorial Fund

Re: »In memoriam.

After discussion with JJ's wife ( grue See Profile), we've decided to set up a memorial fund, with the proceeds to go towards JJ's son's (Pete) College Fund. Donations may be made via paypal or by check, and I request that all donations be accompanied by your username and a note that it's for the JJ Fund.

The people to contact for donation information are Gomez See Profile, lilhurricane See Profile, Mospaw See Profile, and I. Thank you all in advance.

Im not exactly rolling in cash, and Im sure other members aren't as well. Perhaps we could come up with suggestions on how we can give of ourselves other than monetarily as well. I'm not sure, but I feel there's got to be some way we can help.

One way everyone can help is to become part of the search for a cure. Visit the Team Discovery forum »Team Discovery and sign up to put your extra CPU units to good use. Every computer crunching gets us that much closer.

It's going into an investment account, so even a small contribution today will make a big difference 18 years from now.

We're not rolling in dough right now either, but we always find a way to help where we can.

Two days without beer or a day without fast food, big deal!

I totally understand those who don't even get beer or Mcdonald's, but those who do and never give to others are selfish IMHO.

This in no means should be considered a call for monitary donations. Do what ever feels right to you, and feel good about it.

However, many did inquire about ways to make some sort of cash donation, and for those that would like to make one, we, along with Lisa, figured this would be the best avenue, especially given the 17 years the funds get to accrue.

i was going to make a little donation to the Cancer Society, they told me that they can send a card to JJ's family if i had an address, so if anybody with the address would like to either forward it to them or have me send it to them directly, i think it would be a nice little gesture.

edit: grue sent me an address. the card will be there soon.

I've told the RC5 police not to go after anyone that chooses to fold.
