| Windows .NET Framework 2.0 Showed up for me today on Windows Update. How is it working so far for you early adopters? Any issues?
Thanks.

 | Thanks for that fast reply. Since I have never heard of that file, I don't suppose I will miss it.
I am mainly interested in any program incompatibilities that have arisen. |

Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Office Excel 2003 and for Microsoft Office Word 2003. This update corrects a potential problem in which an add-in, a smart tag, or a smart document may not load if the add-in, smart tag, or smart document uses the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. ..."

 | Yes, I actually got that update yesterday. Thanks for posting it, though.
I think I'll let .NET 2.0 percolate a bit longer before I install it.
Thanks for the help. |

Would be nicer (cleaner) if we could uninstall .NET 1.1 first. |

I wonder what's going on. |

tjackPremium join:2003-10-13 Buffalo, NY | reply to Oregonian After installing NET Framework 2.0 I ran Norton's System Works check-up. It found ten errors relating to a missing "msvcr80.dll" under program integrity. I searched my computer and found it, but not in the System32 folder. I googled for info and found others with a similar problem but not related to NET Framework 2.0. Their "msvcr80.dll" was in the same place as mine. When they copied it to the System32 folder they no longer had errors in their applications. At this point I deleted 2.0 and will wait and see what happens. |

 | reply to tjack Ditto.... SAme problem here....Norton System Works finds ten errors - missing msvcr80.dll needed for Net 2.0 etc etc... I am afraid to delete the Net 2.0 for fear of losing a shared .dll file or something and wrecking connectivity...so ..please post anything you find on this that resembles a fix or a solution... will keep looking here. Thanks |

His programs loads up the clients, sorts them, etc etc.. in 842ms, .NET 1.1 does the same tasks on a HUGE database in about 4 or 5 seconds.
Ah well I am not programmer so I don't bother me with your jargin.

 | I copied and pasted msvcr80.dll from the c:\WINDOWS\WinSxS folder to the c:\WINDOWS\System32 folder, and now Nortons doesn't show any errors and SO FAR no problems. Is this a good fix or should I have done it differently? |
