| Best SIP Device For VoipBuster & CallPacket???
Now that many of us have a free incoming number from CallPacket (TelePacket I guess?) and VoipBuster is still no charge within the U.S., what is the best SIP device that will forward the incoming call on the CallPacket port to the VoipBuster port so we can use a one line phone on our new "completely free" phone line?
Since the SPA-2000/PAP2 can't do it for us, is the SPA-3000 the way to go or is there something else? |

I want a SIP device that can forward calls from the CallPacket line to the VoipBuster line so I can use a single-line phone for both services. |

| reply to dublus I use a Budgetone IP phone and it works great. It has the features I want for a very reasonable price. (You can get the 102, which has 2 lines for around $65 online. If you need only 1 line, you can now get the 101 for under $60.) Using it, I've had no downtime. I do have callpacket's (now telepacket) IP address plugged in to the appropriate values field rather than using voip.callpacket.com. |

I like dta310 cause it is simple and it works. but I also want something like -- "SIP device that can forward calls from the CallPacket line to the VoipBuster line"
I would love to use my pap2 for this, anyone knows how? thx |

| reply to dublus If you want two providers going to a single line then the device for you is the Sipura SPA-1001. It can handle two providers on a single line and it supports distinctive ring so that you can tell which provider the incoming call is coming from.

I'm currently using StanaPhone as one provider and GalaxyVoice as the other. For outgoing calls, you switch to the second provider by hitting the pound key. |

| I'm using a "free" PAP2 as well. What I was looking for is a device that would allow a single line phone to receive calls on the free Telepacket number and make free outgoing calls on either VoipBuster or Sipdiscount. Assuming you've got broadband anyway, that would be a 100% free phone. |

Assuming you've got broadband anyway, that would be a 100% free phone. As posted above a Sipura 1001 will allow you to setup to receive Telepacket calls and be able to make outgoing calls on another voip provider such as VoipBuster or SipDiscount.
It doesn't look to me like Telepacket is free any more. Looks like it costs 95c a month with 100 incoming plus 100 outgoing minutes free.
Telepacket also has a "follow-me" forwardarding feature that would let you forward any incoming calls to another voip DID or a PSTN number. They charge outgoing minutes for this but you get 100-in / 100-out free on their pay-as-you-go +95c plan. |

| reply to dublus said by dublus :What I was looking for is a device that would allow a single line phone to receive calls on the free Telepacket number and make free outgoing calls on either VoipBuster or Sipdiscount. You have two choices:
Sipura SPA-1001: You would set up your outgoing provider on Line 1. That way you wouldn't need to "switch" to line 2 before you dial (the default key for switching to Line 2 is the # key). Then you could set the incoming provider up on Line 2. Although the 1001 lists a "Line 1" and "Line 2", they are actually on the same physical line.
Sipura SPA-3000: You would set up your incoming provider on Line 1 and set up your outgoing provider as a gateway provider. You would need to craft a dial plan that specifies that all calls go out over that gateway. This is also done on one physical phone line. A bit more complicated and expensive than the 1001, but may allow greater flexibility with the ability to add other outgoing providers. |

I've stumbled across something that I might take a whack at... it's the Linksys WRT54GS with Asterix running over OpenWRT. It can do what I want and a whole lot more. |
