| New Jersey - Passaic County Towns!?
I had posted this quite a while ago and tried to 'bump' the post but it was too old... So I'm reposting it....
Okay what does Verizon have against Passaic County New Jersey?!?! Sure, okay they stated they will be lighting up the CITY OF PASAIC with FIOS but what about the rest of the towns in the county? Seems like every other county Verizon has flagged for rollout has quite a few towns, cept for Passaic that is...
Passaic County encompasses:
Bloomingdale Clifton Haledon
Hawthorne: Actually they said this was on the list but seem to think it's in Bergen County - and given it's almost totally surrounded by Bergen County towns I guess it's an easy mistake to make)
Hewitt Lakeside Little Falls Newfoundland North Haledon Passaic Paterson Pompton Lakes *** Prospect Park Ringwood *** Totowa Wallington Wanaque Wayne West Milford West Paterson Wharton
I'd just love to hear from anyone in any of those other towns who are waiting for some hopeful words about FIOS rollout plans (specific for me would be Ringwood / Pompton Lakes - RVDL CO)
I'm pretty well off for now (thanks to OOL / Cablevision) but I'd sure like to have a CHOICE - given 38k feet from the Riverdale CO - DSL has never been an option for me.
Any other Passaic County homesteaders in the same boat I'm in? Post your sob story here!
Who knows, maybe this thread could also be used to list those 'orange cable sightings'.... If we ever get any!

| I care... I live in Hawthorne... and have no dsl options either. I got fiber to my office before OOL was available - still have it for business purposes but would also like a choice... -- If you do what you did...You will get what you got... |

| Month after month ticks by and the forgot county remains forgotten... but given only two of us have posted here I guess verizon was right about ignoring an entire county in one of the most populated areas of the country. |

| said by Leem :How much of Bergen Co has FIOS? I'm in Glen Rock and no fios here... It's done more by CO then town. Allendale had it before me. Allendale is off the Ramsey CO. In Waldwick, I'm off the Ridgewood CO which I think is the CO that services Glen Rock. I did a look up of a random person in Glen Rock and it shows FIOS is available. The person lived on Doremus. You should check again and if not, I'm imagining it's not far off. -- Tweaked your connection? | Mail Parse | Speed Converter |

| reply to dgaraffa I live in Passaic County, and just like it was with Optimum Online, we are always the last ones to come online. The reason is simple: if you look at the average income it is much lower than in Bergen o Morris, we may be highly populated but because so many town have lots of poor people, there is no incentive for the companies to come here. How many people can afford in Paterson $50 of internet access. |

| I always chuckle when someone doesn't have a service they want invoking the "they are the last one" response. I see it all the time in the OOL forum. In the OOL forum, most changes are released to parts of Long Island where CV HQ is located. Once someone on LI has it, the "We're gonna be the last ones" posts start to roll in with folks from each and every non-Long Island area claiming they will be last.
And the "poor people" line is always used too. I don't know when Haledon got OOL, but I only had OOL availability in Aug 2001, long after a good portion of the OOL area had service. DSL didn't become available to me until years after that. I'm the last street on the CO with the street behind me the last street on a different CO. I just got lucky with FIOS and have had it a few months now.
FIOS is a pretty significant upgrade to the CO so there's a lot of work in the CO that needs to be done along with wiring. I don't honestly think there's a real emphasis on household income just because the lower package is less expensive then OOL is right now so there's actually a pretty big benefit to getting to those that would lower their service if they could pay less.
Only 1 area can be FIRST and only 1 area can be LAST so everything is in somewhere in between. -- Tweaked your connection? | Mail Parse | Speed Converter |
