I just flashed mine tonight and it now finds "hidden" access points. Ones that don't broadcast the SSID. It also is finding many more access points than before that do broadcast the SSID.

| I just ordered one earlier this week. It'll be interesting to see how it performs on my Mac PowerBook as I've never been impressed with the range of its own built in Airport.
Despite the OS X driver support it's a pity you can't upgrade the AG-225H firmware on the Mac; the utility supports Win XP/2000 only. |

Anyone having trouble with the firmware upgrade tool? I've tried 3 different systems: XP home, XP Pro and 2000 Pro. All have the drivers loaded and the device works as it should but the tool says 'no network device found' when in the upgrade mode.

| I had the same problem and had to try it in several different machines before I got the upgrade to work. The device was only recognised on insertion into a USB slot the first time round; on removing and reinserting neither the wireless tools nor the upgrade utility would work and a reboot was necessary in order to have the device recognised again. Finally got the firmware upgraded by putting it into upgrade mode and inserting it straight after booting up. Needless to say, ZyXEL UK support implied that the problem must lie with my PCs and not the wonderfully stable ZyXEL hardware. Funnily enough the problem doesn't appear to occur after the firmware upgrade.
Regarding Mac OS 'support' of the AG-225H, there is a small Mac OS sticker on the box wrapping. That's it. There was nothing else either printed on the box, the documentation or the CD that mentioned Mac support. I therefore downloaded the latest driver from the US FTP site (it is not available on any other FTP site) and installed it. This has created a ZyWALL WLAN icon in System Preferences but nothing appears to happen with it. Fortunately the driver has an extremely helpful ReadMe included:

I am awaiting ZyXEL support's response to that issue. I won't hold my breath. |

Thanks for sending me in the right direction. I did notice that the device would not work after a laptop suspend/resume. The magic solution is to close (exit) the configuration utility then do the flash. Works! |

The FTP site has two Mac OS drivers for the AG-225H. The earlier one (labelled v1.0 but the word "beta" appears once unpacked) will not install on my OS 10.4.3 system. The later driver (v.1.10), which is the one I referred to above, I have now been advised by Tech Sport not to use, as they have identified some "serious issues" with it. Both are lacking in any documentation, but I have been informed that this is being worked on and hopefully I'll be sent it whenever it is ready, along with a new driver. |

| As an update to this, I've now been sent a newer Mac driver by Tech Support. This works on my copy of OS X 10.4.3. However it only supports WEP encryption so I'm not using it. I've been told that WPA/WPA2 support should be available in January.
In the interim, if anyone wants a copy of the newer (WEP only) Mac driver, drop me a PM.

As an update to this, I had been trying to flash the firmware on the AG-225H via XP for several days now. However, the moment I turned off the configuration utility as suggested in this thread, I was able to re-flash it. That seemed to be the trick.
It does seem to have the "used USB" ports problem. If ever unplugging it, it would need to be plugged into a different USB port. Keep doing this, and you would go through all of the virgin ones until none were left, and the system would need to be rebooted. Very frustrating.
Let's hope it now works with OSX. |

While I have noticed this too - I have been successful with 2 methods of work-arounds.
Yes I know you don't 'have' to "eject" USB items w/XP but if you do eject the device when removing it I have been able to re-use the same port.
OR
Plug-it back in to the same port and start up add new hardware from the CP and you should 'hear' it get found again.
Yes I know neither of these should be necessary but that have both worked for me.
BTW - Got mine 2 days agon and have to say that it is a very cool device.
