Shoutcast affected by throttling?

As of yesterday, listening to Shoutcast broadcasts via Winamp only works for about a minute and then dies. Tried listening as well via Windows Media Player and got the same result. Since listening to a Shoutcast broadcast is basically just receiving streaming mp3 files, is it possible that this type of traffic is being throttled? I haven't called Rogers yet. Note that I probably have a Shoutcast station tuned in for 7 or 8 hours a day (often leave it on all night just to have some classical music playing).

This is happening with any Shoutcast station and any other streaming radio station using mp3s I've tried.

[FWIW, also note that this activity is perfectly legal - it's internet radio.]

It's quite possible.

And as said many times ... legality is NOT the issue wrt traffic shaping.

Thanks, I take your point on the legality thing. So the issue wrt traffic shaping would be bandwidth or usage? Note that I'm using 128kbps streams, barely a blip on the bandwidth scale. And I'm downloading only 8GB - 12GB per month, which is pretty low usage. So if I'm being throttled, I'll be pretty ticked! Especially since I'm a Rogers VIP! :

What qualifies you as a VIP is how much you're spending with Rogers companies. viz cable, wireless, internet In other words, it doesn't mean anything.

Ok, got a chance this evening to play around with this again. And the problem is now solved! It's been fixed by cycling power on my router and my modem. So no throttling after all. Thanks for your replies.

[edit - thought I should note that my IP address did not change as a result of the power cycle]

A normal power cycle will not change your IP as the modem usually just re-grabs the same IP you already had, it will only possibly change if rogers made some changes on their end, if you install a new Network card, or if you leave the modem powered off overnight, in these cases the IP can change from my understanding based on previous discussions I have read here.
