Re: [Connectivity] Comcast VS. DSL?

I didn't read every post here, but there is no comparison between Comcast Cable and Dsl.
Once I exchanged the RCA modem for the Ambit, I've been consistently getting above 6000/384. Best test has yielded 9060/361 @ Speakeasy! For $42!
Reliability has been excellent!
Have you exchanged your Modem?
Checked/replaced connections/splitters/cable, etc, etc.
Most problems are caused by routers, got one?
Tried hooking cable straight up without router?
Just some idea's that may be useless, who knows.
You should be much happier with cable though, especially over DSL...

@shawcable.net

hey alias, have you checked your modem signal levels?

if you unplug your modem from power and plug it back in (leave the cable and ethernet connected, also bypass your router) while it is trying to lock, open your browser and go to 192.168.100.1 in the address bar

that should open your modems configuration (if its the kind of modem i'm picturing), click on signal, it should give you the signal levels (both send and receive), the receive should be above -11db and below +11db and the transmit should be above 33db and below about 54db i believe

as i'm sure you know it doesnt take it much time to lock in when you power cycle it, but if you are quick you should be able get your levels, motorola says you can get to this config page while the modem is online but i havent been able to do so with mine, maybe i'm missing something

and of course make sure your pc grabbed that 192.168.100.1 ip address before trying to use it lol
