Its ok, its a LINE issue...and the modem is a Motorola SB5120,
Your modem is the problem. I had the same issue until I swapped it out. Do a search of this forum for SB5120 and you can read the prior threads about it. This modem has a known bad chipset in it. Swap it out for another brand. I got an RCA and all of my connection issues went away.

Edit - Here's the thread I started on the subject:
»[Connectivity] Connection intermittantly dropping
Weird, there were no problems with it before August, before the last upgrade cycle. So, you're saying the chipset went bad at the same time of the upgrades?

I wouldn't have a problem if they swapped out the modem AND added a booster to my line.... that should fix it either way

No. I think when they did the speed upgrade you went from QAM 64 to QAM 256. This particular modem has problems with QAM 256 systems. When you were on the old QAM 64 system everything was fine.

That's what happened to me. I was fine until the speed upgrade and then my Signal to Noise Ratio dropped like a rock. On the Moto 5120 it was about 27dB. Switching to the RCA cause it to jump back up to 39dB and all was well after that.

Hmmmm, and I thought the Motorola Modems were suppose to be da bomb! ... oh well, guess not
