| [Hardware] Belkin wireless bridge?
I have 2 wireless routers. A Netgear (which is currently used) and a Belkin (currently sat in the cupboard)
Is it possible to plug the Belkin router into my Mac (or any PC for that matter) and point it to use the Netgear router to wirelessly access the internet (sort of like a repeater station I guess) I've tried tinkering with the settings on both routers to no joy. I'd like to get this working just because I'm too cheap to go out and buy 2 additional wireless network cards!
The Belkin is a f5d7630-4a (Firmware V.A.1.08.03UK (Jul 8 2004 15:41:37) and the Netgear is a DG834GT.
I've tried the 2 bridge modes: Disable Internet Sharing(Bridge Mode, for single PC) Dynamic/Fixed IP in 1483 Bridge Mode (For multiple PCs)
When I select the "Disable Internet Sharing" option, the Belkin setup page shows that the router is connected to the internet, yet on my Mac...nothing. Selecting the 1483 mode shows as no connection on the Belkin.
I've tried pointing my Mac to both the Belkin and the Netgear as it's router IP (Obviously when I point it to the Netgear I can connect)
The routers are (now) both on the same subnet mask, but should they both be using the same wireless channel? (I've tried changing this to no avail)
The SSID is set to the same on both, as is the WPA-PSK key.
I can access the internet by plugging my Mac into the Belkin, and plugging the Belkin into the Netgear, so the bridging part of it is working as it should (Wired at least).
Obviously this is not the point of the mission as I still have a wired network. Any idea on how to proceed from here? |

| I've tried bridging two Belkin f5d7630-4's and was not able to get it to work using WPA-PSK. They connected just fine using no security but that is not acceptable to me. Someday when I have the time I plan to try again. Belkin tech support was of no help whatsoever. Both routers must be on the same channel. I would suggest you try to get it to work with no security and then introduce the WPA-PSK. Good luck. You'll need it. |

@71.80.x.x | Same problem here. Bridging works fine in WEP or no encryption at all, but WPA is a no go.
