| Adding XP Pro with eMachines T3406
I just bought a eMachines T3406 during Black Friday and wanted to install a copy of XP Pro. However, I have to find out the drivers for the computer before I take the plug. On eMachines.com doesn't seem to have any kind of drivers for this particular system. All they gave me was a reinstallation disk and a drive H for the system recovery. Anyone got this system and please tell me how to do it? Thanks! |

| What does it currently have installed on it? Home I'm guessing? You'll have to either do a repair install with the XP Pro cdo r an upgrade install.
Either that or you could try to save all the drivers, reformat and install XP Pro and load them again. -- Never argue with an idiot. Theyll drag you down to their level then beat you with experience. |

@verizon.ne | reply to flawlessly If you find them please let me know as well. Just bought one, and "award winning support" just sucks. Specifically need audio driver. Thanks. |

| reply to flawlessly Drivers for XP-Home should work for XP-Pro (99% of it), just run the upgrade, or for heaven sake, go to emachine website and download the NIC driver for XP-PRO for that machine, so after you upgrade, at least you'll have the NIC driver |

| reply to flawlessly After waiting in line for hours to buy this computer at best buy on black friday, I decided that it would make a nice linux box dual booted with XP Pro. When I finally got it all up and running I found that I could not connect to the internet while booted into XP pro, so after a day of searching I finally found the correct drivers, and thought that you all might want them as well. they come from the intel site, in the support section.
Here is the link:

Sorry it's so long.
Cheers. |

Thanks! |

| reply to flawlessly I spent some time with the emachines customer support and they were quite helpful. When i tried recovering the machine using their recover CD, i ran into the same issue. Maybe it is because in my attempt to install another OS i deleted what might have been a restore partition. I cannot get back the microsoft money that came bundled with this machine now even using the "restore" CD!!! Thought that was pretty crappy restore process.
Anyway if you try to do re-install/re-cover operations and end up with a couple of your devices not working (for me it was usb, video, audio, fax, network), then go to the following website
»downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts···it=Go%21
and you should find the drivers for all the devices. i installed all the downloads in the driver section and everything but the modem got recognized just fine.
Hope this helps
