Note for CCleaner users

Gonna post in security as I think it might be more pertinent here.

A user posted on GRC about his Flash 8 settings going back to default settings. One suggested it might be CCleaner causing this. Sure enough if Macromedia Flash Player is checked under Applications | Multimedia it detects the settings.sol files for deletion. If this file(s) are deleted Flash goes back to the default settings. So if you have set Flash to not store any files or deny access to webcam, etc, if the settings.sol file is deleted you will be vulnerable again unless you go and set them again in settings manager.

Take note.
Oh and just in case I'm not knocking CCleaner. But this is one setting the users need to be aware of.

Are you saying this has been posted on ccleaner forums? I have just registered to post however......

Ok just looked and indeed looks like you posted it already. I was thinking of making a suggestion that CCleaner be able to toggle that option for Flash. Would make sense in this case since these settings can only be applied by going to the web site.

Oh and btw I wonder if this is something new or has been this way before. I tested using the new version of CCleaner. 1.26.218

Yup you're right. This has been around awhile. Many versions since then too. Must not be too interested in doing something about this. I hesitate to call it a bug but.......

Oh well at least it will be fresh in users minds again.
