Re: ECO & GDC

Everything will be better because of this. I guaranty it.
Last year, my community was hit directly by two hurricanes. At first all you could see is the destruction. Now, one year later, mother nature has restored it and it's becoming beautiful once again.
Everything marches forward. We will all look back and realize it was just one stone in long path.

Well I just read this annoucement... Does this means that the team "BroadbandReports.com Team Ecology cannot being called like that in the future?

said by 72245156 See Profile :

Closest project to being environmental is ClimatePrediction.Net, for which we have a team already, which, last time I checked, called this forum home. Of course, it requires your CPU time, but isn't that what distributed computing is about?
I already crucnh for climateprediction...

grobinette See Profile is right; why should we stop being a team...

Don't stop clicking! Save the earth!!!

I cannot speak for site management, but in my opinion, there's no reason the team name has to change, unless simply to avoid confusion.

The only change is the discontinuation of site sponsorship, again in my opinion. And of course, a place to post your clicks.

I'm with KeysCapt on that one. I do not see a need to change the name.

It's simple. All of the 100 people who have EVER clicked a Sq. Ft. for Team Ecology make the team, not the Sponsor.

@ BBR, the "Sponsor" graciously gave us a place to gather on BBR & allowed us to use the name "Broadbandreports.com" as part of our identity....that's all. It's the people who go out of their way to click daily who define the true identity of the team not the person here with the UID of 1 or the name of a website as part of our team name.

All we need to do is find someone willing to host a Bulletin Board for us on the internet and we can continue elsewhere almost uninterrupted like we've been doing here.

The song would remain the same, just played on a different channel/station...This doesn't have to be the 'end'.........unless we want it to be.

So, who's gonna step up and offer us a new location????

Not sure how practical it is and sorry, no bulletin board but can all use this one either permanently or temp until find something like better. (how do the statistics get on the stats page-that might make a difference in using my tag board)
It gives a cookie and if keep the cookie can always sign in with same name.

Count me in if we can take this show on the road. Like some of my other teammates I will continue to click no matter what happens.

We would like to extend a helping hand and a new home for ECO at AskDg »www.askdg.com. AskDg is a fully functioning board with a lot of the same capabilities as BBR and, IMO, would make a good home for your clicks and chat. A lot of BBR members and crunchers are current AskDg members, so you'll see quite a few familiar faces. But there are enough non-BBRers that you might even get a few new crunchers.

Probably the only thing we'd need sooner rather then later would be a forum like this one created on your site and then we can all post in our own little corner of your place like we used to be able to do here..

Thanks again for the lightning quick response to all who are responsible for making this a reality!!

I like that. The other function that this forum performed was nurturing new projects or at least it was a place for people to introduce new projects and discuss them.

I just don't see someone dropping in to an established project forum, introducing a new project and being warmly received.
