You got the same info I did when I googled zlcommdb.xml. I wonder why the article was removed

To remove the ComputerAssociates key from the registry, right click on the key > click on Permissions > and if your User Name is not listed > click Add > Enter your User Name in the dialog box that opens > click OK > and in the Permissions window, tick the box that says Full Control next to your User Name. Try deleting the key again.

The ZLcommdb.xml in System32 is part of ZoneAlarm. A quick Google search did not help to much: »www.google.com/search?q=ZLcommdb.xml .

The only article I found was this »nh2.nohold.net/noHoldCust25/Prod···all.html which you may have already found on your own.

I am down to two items in my quest to remove EZ Armor: ZLcommdb.xml in System32 and ComputerAssociates in Registry.
I get a "cannot be deleted" message when I try to remove them. Anyone know why this is so?

Have you turned off EZ Armor before trying to uninstall? Make sure to disable all the CA components (vsmon, vetray etc) in system configuration utility, reboot your system & uninstall through add/remove programs.

You need to do a manual uninstallation. If you dont know what this means it is best to hire somebody to help you fix the problem. There is nothing wrong with the program. It is a great program. The problem is most likely with the state of your computer. Dont count on CA for help. That is one of their few glaring weaknesses-- no support. Good luck.

I tried removing it using Add/Remove, tried removing using EZ Armor Uninstaller, tried removing it from System32, tried removing it in Safe Mode, tried removing it with System Restore OFF with no success. I get a "This program cannot be removed" message.

CA is giving me the runaround on this matter. They keep asking me for information I have already given them, never the solution to this buggy program.

Thanks for responding guys. CA's solution to this problem was no help at all so I asked for a replacement. Hope they will give me a replacement. So for now, I am stuck with this problem.

Seems like you have a bad install and maybe a bad setup file. My advice would be-
1. do a _thorough_ manual uninstallation ***
2. defrag your hd
3. run ccleaner
4. go get a new setup file (i recommend EZ AV 2005 only)
5. reinstall

EZAV 2005 is a great, trouble free app. EZ Armour is OK, but prone to more issues because it includes old ZA.

I don't know what is causing your difficulties, but I am using EZ Armor on my computers, using the Road Runner build that is free to Road Runner subscribers. I have no complaints about it.

The last version of EZ Armor 3.x included a re-badged version of ZA Pro 5.1.x, which like ZA Pro 5.1.x versions, caused problems/issues for a lot of users.

BTW EZ Armor has been discontinued/replaced with the eTrust Internet Security Suite; EZ Armor not shown on eTrust's products page:
»home.ca.com/dr/sat2/ec_Main.Entr···CHE_ID=0

I would recommend that you contact CA/eTrust support to see about updating from EZ Armor to eTrust Internet Security Suite which has the more stable re-badged version of ZA Pro 5.5.x.

If you still have problems uninstalling EZ Armor and CA/eTrust support continues to be of no help ...
First search CA/eTrust support's on-line "Knowledge Base".
If that still does not help, below are links on how to do a "clean" uninstall of ZoneAlarm -- steps should be similar for uninstalling the eTrust's re-badged version of ZA Pro:

Anyone using EZ Armor? I installed this software but seems like this program is not working. Windows Security is reporting that the antivirus is turned off but there is no way for me to turn it on. When I click on eTrust EZ Armor,
I get an Advanced Security Status page where I am asked to purchase Zone Alarm. I tried uninstalling/reinstall the program but it wouldn't uninstall. Uninstalling it in Safe Mode didn't work either. I contacted Computer Associate about this and was told to uninstall/reinstall, which I have already done with no success.

Could someone help me with this?
TIA
