| Some advice, please
Dear everybody,
I would please like to get some advice on how to get out of a situation which seems to drag until the cows come home. I'll try to keep it short.
I'm with Aserty and synch at 1.7M for more than a year now. I always felt I could go faster since a friend of mine uptairs in the same building synchs at 3M with Sympatico. In order to prove whether or not that was the case I ordered dry DSL from Aserty when it became available and had that in parallel to my current service i.e. I did not cancel my current service with them in case the dry DSL would also synch at 1.7M.
A high-speed tech came around and activated the dry service for me. He had to do some inside wiring and put the dry DSL on another pair of wires inside my jack than the one that carries the voice signal. In addition he showed me that the dry DSL would synch at 3M. YAY! I also had him check my current line which he found synchs at 1.7M. This surprised him, because the dry line and the 'wet' line end at the same CO and he said there must be something wrong with the line. He confirmed that both lines as well as that of my friend upstairs end at the same CO and are around 3.3 km long (and not 5.3km as Bell keeps telling Aserty).
I therefore asked Bell to make the dry line wet so that I move everything over to the 'good' line and get 3M DSL without having to pay the loop charge i.e. cancel the dry loop account and move the wet service to the then-dry line. This turned into a nightmare and resulted in me not having voice nor internet service for 5 business days. When I DID get my service back up, it was back at 1.7M. In order words: Bell had NOT switched me to another line/circuit, but back to the old (and crappy) line.
I have asked Bell TWICE to switch everything to the line (I should say 'circuit') that was used for the dsy DSL and that has still not been done!
A tech has been around today because I have voice volume issues on my current line and had that from the beginning. A Bell tech who fixed my voice service when I was without earlier told me to ring 611 repair about the volume issue and he thought it would also solve my internet problems.
Since I wasn't home (I was told he'd be here after 6 but instead he was here at 2!) the tech just checked from downstairs in the apartment building basement and concluded that it must be my inside wiring. However, this is untrue because since having the dry DSL I have used both pairs of inside wiring and in each case I get 1.7M with the curent line. Therefore it CANNOT AT ALL be an inside wiring problem because with the pair that I am using now I got 3M on the dry loop!!
Now, how on Earth do I make Bell understand it is the darn line/circuit that I am on so that they will terminate this circuit and switch me to one that DOES allow me to get 3M?
Thanks in advance, Black Moon |
