| My 1.5 won't update extensions
Just installed 1.5, but can't update extensions; neither through extensions update, nor by direct install at web site.
Check box for "Allow web sites to install extensions & themes" is missing in Tools / Options.
On the new Content Tab, I've un-checked "Warn me when web sites try to install ext & themes", and I've added update sites to Exceptions.
Is there something different in 1.5 that allows extensions to be updated that I'm missing?
Thanks. |

| you should be able to go directly to the extensions in the tools menu, and from there you can select each extension, right click and then choose update, or you can try to update them all by clicking the Find update button at the bottom of the window.
Also, you can go to Tools/Options/Advanced to further tweak it. -- Forget 'em, Support the Indies.»www.ind-music.com |

| reply to RV AL My Advanced Tab looks just like your posted image.
I've used Tools / Extensions / Update and nothing happens.
At the extensions update web site, when I click install I get the following bar in the window:
"Software installation is currently disabled. Click Edit Options... to enable it and try again."
I click Edit Options and it opens to the Content Tab, without an option to allow downloads to install.
The only thing I can figure is that the extensions show an update is available, but because they're greyed out FF 1.5 won't allow the updates to install. I assumed because new versions are shown as available, this would make them usable with 1.5. |

| reply to RV AL if I am not mistaken you have to have Java enabled if you want to install extensions. Most of the themes are .jar files which need java in order to be executed. Try enabling Java and then see what happens when you try to update. -- Forget 'em, Support the Indies.»www.ind-music.com |

| reply to RV AL I enabled Java, clicked update TabBrowser Preferences, nothing happened. Went to web site, clicked download, got same Edit Options dialogue, and same Contents Tab. Also tried Adblock Plus, with same results.
Didn't have Java enabled in 1.07 and extensions updated fine. Only activate JavaScript as needed.
1.07 had a checkbox to allow web sites to download and install. I also had to check it for Extensions to use the Update Now button. |

| reply to RV AL I had this issue today too. After trying to update many, many times, I finally said (you know what) and uninstalled 1.5 and deleted my profile too. (Saved my bookmarks first.) I then reloaded 1.5 (and my bookmarks) and then tried updating my extensions again. This time it worked perfectly! I can't say what you should do but something in the old 1.07 profile didn't mesh... |

| reply to RV AL If you had "software installation" blocked in 1.07 there isn't an obvious way to alter that setting in 1.50.
In 1.50 type about:config in the address bar. Scroll down to xpinstall.enabled. Double click it to change the value from false to true. |

I just had my 2nd FF 1.5 install "issue" and I did have software installation blocked in FF 1.07. |
