... is there a way to remove ALL drivers? I removed it a couple of times with Device Manager, but that isn't working... *** AT YOUR OWN RISK ***
1. First create a restore point.
2. Close any related applications that are running on the desktop or on the system tray.
3. Use Device Manager to uninstall any hardware you wish.
4. Use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall the files.
5. Go to the C:\windows\inf directory ... look for any remaining files relating to your hardware here. Open the .inf files in NOTEPAD. If you see a file named OEMxx.inf (such as OEM16), then all of the matching OEMxx files and folders will be related to it (OEM16.PNF, OEM16.CAT, and etc.). Move only those related to your hardware to the recycle bin. You will find that sorting this directory by Create and Modified date will help you match up the files based on the time you last tried to install them.
6. Shut down the system (power-off). This avoids any possible PCI-detection problems between warm and cold boots.
7. Turn on the system. If this was successful, the 'new' hardware should be detected and it should be unable to locate any drivers. -- Robb Topolski -= funchords.com =- Hillsboro, Oregon USA ~ Keeper of the D-Link FAQ ~ Did you Search? ~ More features, Free! Join BBR! ~ |
