What's that phone number to check your LD carrier?

The one you can call to see who is your designated LD carrier. Is there one for local toll? I can't find it. ?? Thanks.

Here they are for SBC LD in Milwaukee County:

1-700-555-4141 InterLATA
1-414-700-4141 IntraLATA

Thanks, Doc. The one in the FAQ for local toll doesn't seem to work for me. The LD number was OK though.

Re: What's that phone number to check your LD carr

Likewise, 414-700-4141 worked for me when we had MCI for all toll for about five years and then SBC for all toll for about two years. However now we use a Qwest reseller for all toll and that number does not work. I get the "Disconnected or no longer in service" number.

I asked the reseller about this and they assured me that I am using the reseller for both, and both services show up on my account statement. However I can't recall if I've even made an IntraLATA long distance call since I switched in September or October.

It just occurred to me that I accidentally dialed 1-414+351-xxxx a few days ago and the call went thru. Those calls used to go to intercept. I figured they just changed the switch translations to line up with typical cell phone and VoIP dialing patterns, but maybe that routed via Qwest. We'll see if that call shows up on my reseller bill.

If you figure out what the "new" local toll number is let me know so I can edit the FAQ. I assume that "00" still works for LD as well.

Nearest large city meant use 312 for the entire Chicago area.

1-312-700-4141 should work. Does it?

Specifically, what failure do you get?

"We're sorry, this number can not be completed as dialed"?

Tones?

Male, female voice? Codes given?

Recording: "The area code or telephone number as dialed is not valid. Please check the area code or telephone number and dial again."

In my case, I need not dial the 1 + area code + 700-4141
(i'm in 773 - Chicago)

I just dialed 700-4141 and received my IntraLata info. The voice says I'm using SBC, or a reseller. Not sure how specific this will be if you are using a re-seller service.

Confirmed with a friend in Oak Park. Same problem you're having.

I think the problem is in the Oak Park CO. The question is, what can be done? 312-700 should be a valid area code/prefix to dial.
