Unlimited international calling only $29.99

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has ever used the service from

»https://www.awaketelunlimited.com before?

I just found out about them and they are only $29.99 for unlimited international calling to regular landline phones in 120 countries.

If anyone knows anything about them please post.

Too good to be true! if providers can't take it unlimited for the lowest rate "US per minute rate" then a plan like this will not happen on this earth!

This reminds me with the e mail from an overseas guy who wants me to help him to bring $36M to the States and will give me 20% :D:D

This is not voip. It is a service that uses your normal landline or cell phone to make calls. Therefore, discussion of it belongs elsewhere than here.

Second, the pricing must assume a significant amount of breakage since no company can cover those destinations for unlimited calls at that price and still earn money.

There are numerous posts of true VOIP companies that attempted the unlimited for a much higher rate, and they still couldn't do it. (linefire is one that comes to mind)

Be carefull with this kind of promotions. Recently I paid $ 5 for a service with Novaphone.com. Just worked for half a day and no more. No responses to email to support nor sales. I was tempted by $ 0.02 per minute to call anywhere in the world. They charged my credit card 3 times, so finally they charged $ 15. I guess they wanted just money from several persons.

I always use a virtual credit card when signing up for a service like this. It gives you a chance to test it without being able to get burn except for the initial fee that you must pay.

I mean even at $29.99 a month if they are around at a few months with the service then you have got your money out of it and really cannot complain. That is if you use the service allot.

I signed up yesterday and I am still waiting for my service to work, I spoke to them yesterday about this and they told me that I have to wait 24 hours to be able to use the service. I am been waiting 20 hours now and nothing yet, but I will let you know more later if I get the service work for me today. I found this about the company. »www.nextone.com/docs/wsj_awakete···awaketel'

Ok, Now I am giving you a Update on this.

I called them today because my service was not active yet and they told that the call id was showing a different number on their system that's why their system was giving me a error message. I called Lingo that is my phone company provider and they couldn't fix this problem, so what I did I put the number that they were getting on their call id system on my account Online and that fixed the problem that I had. After that my service started to work and I called different numbers in my country and I got connected and the sound quality was excellent. I checked my account Online to see if I had any charge for those calls that I made and nothing, so that's mean that the system only show you the call that you make to premium number not the call that make to the unlimited countries. Also when I call the access number the system answer the call in two language; English and Spanish for the Latino community. I am giving them a great review so far, but I will continue using the service to see how will goes.

The only problem is that you can only active one number to your account, so that's mean that only one number will get access to your service but you can change the number if you want at your online account management.

From the Dallasnews.com "AwakeTel uses AGC's VoIP network to carry its calls to other countries, where AwakeTel has arrangements with local telecommunications companies to connect with the call's recipient."

AwakeTel can't have arrangements with local telecommunication companies in ALL the listed 190 countries for example Egypt will not allow a VoIP call to connect directly to a landline, it must bridge 1st to the cellphone system before it gets forward to land line phone, that is why the per minute rate to call Egypt from USA is no way less than 10c a minute because they have to pay for the cellphone air time, that is also why calling a cellphone in Egypt is cheaper than calling a landline which is the opposite almost anywhere else, from their rate table I don't see how they will charge 8c a minute to call a cellphone in Egypt while giving unlimited free calls to a landline phone ??

Thanks for the link.

The problem is I can not sign up online as long as they only accept american addresses. I asked them if they let me sign up over the phone and they said they won't.
I would not mind using my home phone line since I have an unlimited US&Canada plan, but they said it's only within US.

Weird...
How can I get it ?

FYI…

I was thinking to sign up for residential service, which will be used by my wife and I, because our relatives live back home and we make lots of International calls.

Today, I talked to customer service to find out more information regarding their unlimited service and different between individual residential users and other users. I don’t remember the person’s name; she told me that if a person use their service or/and stay on the phone more than 8 hours a day then they will think that person is not using for residential purpose. Then she mentioned AwakeTel reserves the right, without advance notice, to (1) immediately terminate the Service, (2) change your calling plan to a different offer on a prospective basis, (3) immediately charge your credit card for usage on a per-minute basis at our standard per-minute plan rates. Per-minutes plan rates could be found at AwakeTel.com site.

Most likely, I will sign up because I don’t think that we will use their service more than 8 hours a day and the price is fix and no tax, which I liked same as SR annual plan.

Before you sign up, find out details information from them.

Well, I signed up for the free $10 offer (with a virtual credit card, just in case...). We typically have a $50.00 international LD bill here, so it will be interesting to see how these guys work.

What line did you use to call AwakeTel access numbers, Voip or PSTN ?

Is there a difference between them in terms of sound quality ?
I was told by CS that calling from a Voip line makes it sound choppy but I hardly believe it's true.

Thanks
