Re: Lorna Lane, AL work center - inventory Q

Didn't want to start a new post; just a quick question.
Does the LL office have the 9022 w/ Moxi Mate?
Thanks again.

I would give the Moxi a try for a few weeks, anyway. Some people love it. Some people hate it. I've had one for 15 months and am content with it.

OSPE,

There are no numbers to call to get such information. However, I can speak with authority on this matter.

It is highly unlikely there will ever be a wholesale switch from Moto to SA in the Hoover market. The cost to replace the thousands upon thousands of set-tops already deployed is just too great.

But, there is hope in the form of Sony's Passage technology (»www.sonypassage.com/ ). Passage is touted as enabling set-tops, from multiple vendors, to work with cable systems that have deployed vendor specific conditional access systems, such as Moto's DigiCipher and SA's Powerkey.

Charter has licensed the technology, but it remains to be seen if Charter will deploy it.

Regards.

Is there a way to check when or if my area will switch from the Moto box to the SA?
Either a work-center specific site or phone number?

If there comes a point where I can rid myself of the Moto, I will quickly take action. Just wondering how long I'm stuck with it.
Thanks

Is this true for all areas with such a situation?

Informative, but disappointing.
Thanks anyhow.

However, if you have currently have a Moto set-top then, you live in an area that is fed from a Moto Headend. Because you live in a Moto powered cable system, an SA set-top will not work.

I got my box from the Lorna Lane office off of Rocky Ridge. Do any of you know if they carry SA boxes? I know they stock the Moxi, but wasn't sure about the SA.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I currently have a Moto HD box but would prefer a SA. If I had to upgrade to HD/DVR for the SA, I might do it (I am not impressed at all w/ the Moto). But if I could only upgrade to the Moxi if they don't carry SA, I'll probably just sit tight w/ the crappy Moto, since from what I hear, the Moxi isn't all that and a bag of potato chips.

Thanks for the info,
