When will Montreal host wireless internet...

I heard about that service offered in the states for $60 US per month... Does anyone have info about projects coming here? It would be nice to drive around while using the internet!!! :P

I'm not sure if there's a local initiative but I know Bell Mobility currently has a "1X" product that runs at about 4-5 times the speed of dialup.... It's completely mobile. The air card (for Notebook) ran me about $450-$500 and the monthly for unlimited data (bundled with a cell number for my laptop and some airtime) is approximately $100/month. I've used it successfully while in Montreal about 6 months ago... Hope this helps!

1) Bell Mobility EVDO is being rolled out to up the speed of transmission to 2.4M (news release) in certain parts, 1x network speed is up to 153k available elsewhere.
2) Inukshuk (Bell & Rogers) will have a solution of some sort of WiMax (I can't find any details about deployment at the moment, but here's the press release)

I think what the OP was talking about is probably something similar to #2.
