If you want to use both smoothie GUI and your router, just replug into your wan port and change your routers ip to that of your SW; ie mine is 192.168.0.1 and my router is 192.168.0.2. After you change your router setting switch back to your lan port instead of the wan port. This will allow you to connect to you SW box and your router gui. Enjoy.
Oh buy the way, I run SUSE 10 and love it. I haven't tried this yet but I'm sure going to. Thanks so much for posting it. -- They said if I wanted to take the "C" out of RAP that I would have to put it in somewhere else. So here it is; What's crappening? |

| reply to alien9999999 said by alien9999999 :if you're getting appearence issues, then why not using openoffice (or staroffice)...? Well openoffice 2.0 crashes randomly, left on its own. I won't even be doing anything and it just closes. Staroffice, well, that would cost some money on my part and I'm not guaranteed it might be free of the same issue OO has. So running Microsoft office allows me to at least be able to perform most of the functions I need to do on a regular basis, and when necessary to put together an intense word document with embedded charts and such I'll boot into windows. |

I agree, but I was hoping the OP would tell me what HE uses as I want to hear from actual users who are not XP haters. I wonder how Access 2000 would run under Crossover Office. Maybe I won't have to run Windows? Then again there is the 'right tool for the job' thing... and I have a dual boot box.. but have not booted to XP for 2 years... and never while connected to the router. Al I actually just gave Office XP a shot with crossover office and it runs great. There are some issues, like getting excel charts into word documents and having them appear correctly. I don't really use Access but I did try running it and it seemed to work without a hitch.
Heh, I think installing windows programs with crossover office is easier then installing them natively in windows. You don't have to reboot and the whole thing is so automated. It works great. |

it's now B3000 or B-3000, but it doesn't accept it, i think... -- Alien is my name and headbiting is my game. |

| reply to alien9999999 Where in the heck is B8511? You're not on the map. I know it irritates you but try and be international in your outlook. | reply to alien9999999 Okay thanks for the heads up on M. I'll keep that in mind. Ya never know, I might be in the market for another flavor if this doesn't work out. And what can I say, I'll probably be driven toward it later on just out of curiosity. | reply to Mercurybird said by Mercurybird :That was sadly contrasted with Mandriva (sp?) which would give you a free version, but apparently they blazen a big FREE accross the front of it. lol, that's just the wallpaper ...
btw: at my previous work, I have had a windows PC fully viralled in under 12 seconds, since I was just installing it, and wanting to install SP2 to get the firewall installed. Anyway, i donno much about windows security, but it was just installed and already done for...
PS: linux distributions need to survive too, so they sell versions with support... hence the free versions, (if you dislike the free, just buy it ).
PPS: I prefer mandriva, cause of the easy install and the very good Mandrake Control Center... -- Alien is my name and headbiting is my game. |

| reply to Mercurybird Thanks everyone. I've been looking at different versions. I've settled on Ubuntu. Mainly because it is so well supported, and that support is so positive. They are very generous with all the advanced features and software. They are also sending me a free CD. Really first class.
