| [service tier(s)] I wonder I wonder
Are these modem statistics acceptable to move up to 1.5/384 ? or maybe 1.5/128 if they still offer it ? Interleaved 864 160 Noise: down 15.5 up 12.0 Attention down 63.5 up 18.5 Transmit Power down 7.0 up 11.0
I really appreciate any input you guys have to offer! |

| That Attention says your quite a distance on loop length. Doubt they will give it to you, but as they say, nothing ventured nothing gained. I'd give VZ a call. Just don't be surprised if they say no. Fingers crossed for you. -- If only the Verizon CSRs worked this well. |

| Yes I Will certainly have to try harassing them. While I would love a quicker download I especially would like a higher upload is there any sort of a tier in between? I know its highly unlikely with verizon but never know. Also anyone with similiar stats have the 1.5/384 package with some success ? |

| Only tiers I know of are: 768/128 1500/128 (haven't heard of this one in awhile.) 1500/384 3000/768 Again, YOU have to call and see what you can get. Good luck. -- If only the Verizon CSRs worked this well. |

| When upgrading a connection what generally effects noise margins more an increase in upload or download ? I believe my loop length is 17,767 or at least that is what one local ISP's webpage reported. I would love that extra speed sharing files with friends really can be a slow process at 16k. |

| Did you start out with some major line stat problems when you first got DSL ? I know I did. Took numerous technicians removing extra copper, a home run, new modem etc to get where I am. The last thing promised was replacing the untwisted copper on my property 1,000 feet or so. The tech said sometime in the winter is most likely when it would be done. I feel like it will not happen though unless I call and start b7tching again like no tomorrow. |

My stats were so bad when I started that I had to have them find a different pair back to the Central office for me and have them remove a bridge tap from the line. After that it has been stable. | reply to ohyaknow Re: [service tier(s)] I wonder I wonder(update)
I gave Verizon Encore a ring today (and might I add how much I prefer intereacting with them then regular CS The woman in billing was promt and said she put it in the system but wasnt positive if it was availible to me. She said the speed upgrade wouldn't go in till the 16th either way. (friday) Is this normal procedure ? She also said if I did not notice the speed increase on friday to give their technical support a call. Im relatively sure it is availible to me as I intitially started out on it but after all of the work on my line etc they decided they would down grade my service too but with the major quality increase in my line stability and numbers I figured I'd try for it. Lemme know what you all think. |

| So I called today to see if the speed upgrade had been infact put through today like it was supposed to and there was no record of it anywhere on the account? Tried both tech support and billing. Billing said she would put it through again but said often she sees it go through within 20 minutes or less. Any ideas ? |

You missed 640/90. Like 1500/128, it's rare you find customers with it, but I still had it not too long ago (Anytime before April of 2005). -- The one, the only, the Insder. :: Verizon Online DSL (2793/719) and Deer Alpha Firefox! |

| They only offer 768 X 128, 1.5 X 384, 3.0 X 768 currently in the residential world but with those line stats and attenuation, the most you will "possibly" get is 1.5 X 384. Even so, if you are listed in the Verizon database as being past a certain loop length, the billing department will be unable to activate a higher speed tier until you get that resolved. It is a good thing that someone told you that you could get it because then you can be reasonable certain of getting the 1.5 speed. You just have to be persistent in calling them. -- »voipboards.net |
